Bird of Happiness is the traditional Russian wooden carved toy in the shape of a bird. It appeared as a folk side handicraft to shipbuilding by inhabitants of White Sea and Barents Sea coast. The Bird of Happiness is suspended in a house as a charm, guarding the family hearth and well-being. It is made without glue or other fasteners, by way of carving thin petals for the bird’s wings and tail and a special method of spreading and curving them. The amulet is usually made of pine, fir, spruce, or Siberian cedar.
