Birdcore, or Bird-to-the-Core, is a style of hip-hop music which usually contains themes of birdwatching or metaphors heavily circled around birds or bird-like animals. The song credited with giving birth to the genre was "Birdcore For Life", recorded by MC Wreckshin in 2007 on Nerdcore Supervillain. Jaylyn Coffin is also known to claim credit for her “assistance” on this album. Mc Chris is rumoured to be writing a birdcore-themed song, and many birdcore references appear on his website and message board. It is also noteworthy to mention that the first appearance of birdcore on the MC Chris forums was posted by MC Wreckshin.
