Bishop Dolarhyde was born in 1979 to two Russian immigrants at
Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. His family has hopscotched
across the nation and lived in California, Michigan, New York,
Pennsylvania, and Florida. Before their journey to the U.S.
Bishop’s parents called Tashkent, Uzbekistan home. (Uzbekistan is
just north of Afghanistan and was taken over by the Russians in the
19th century.) MR. and MRS. DOLARHYDE made their way to America via
Italy. BISHOP was only a few weeks shy of being born
Italian.
His mother, Dina, was sole proprietor of very
successful brothel in downtown Tashkent and soon opened another in
Moscow. She retired from the business after an incident in which
over a dozen KGB agents contracted herpes, as well as a plethora of
other STDs.
Alexander, his father, was the son of a book-keeper.
His mother, Bishop’s grandmother, was the head of vast network of
black market jewelers. Alexander was drafted in 1967 and soon built
a reputation and an escape artist. Alexander successfully went AWOL
6 times in 18 months and escaped a Russian military prison on the
outskirts of the Siberian tundra 4 times in 9 months. The most
famous of his escape stories took place in December of 1970.
Alexander earned the prestigious title of Internal Military Enemy
No.1 and while on a highly guarded transport to Siberia from Saint
Petersburg managed to flee the clutches of 4 armed guards, leap
from the train, somehow undo his shackles, and in only 19 hours
make it back to Tashkent. 2 KGB agents were sent to find him and
all clues led them to Bishop’s grandmother, known at the time as
Black Maria. She managed to bribe the two agents into calling off
the search with a set of rare star and sword shaped diamonds, the
emblem of the KGB. Both agents returned to Moscow empty handed, a
firing squad and two graves waiting for them. Needless to say, the
next two agents returned with Bishop’s father. You can still visit
the Soviet Ministry of Defense museum in Moscow and see the rare
diamonds bartered for Alexander’s freedom.
Bishop has a sister
ten years his senior named Irene. Being the prodigy of the family,
it was only fitting that she joined to Soviet Nuclear Program at
the age of 14 eventually developing 13 of the 15 most deadly
missiles still hidden in military silos today. After joining her
family in the U.S. in 1981 she earned a masters in Nuclear
Protophysics from USC and wrote 3 books about the subject including
bestseller “Bombs Create Peace: A collection of essays outlining
intimidation as a peace tactic”. In 1991 she finally settled down
to start a family. She consults part time to the worlds leading
energy conglomerates and is the mother of two children. Her son
Julian is a regional tennis champion and her daughter Jackie is an
award winning poet as well as concert pianist. Both are under the
age of 13.
Bishop himself is the black sheep of the family. He
dropped out of high school merely days before graduation and still
holds the record for Detention to Attendance ratio for his
sophomore year (226 detentions in a school year of which he only
attended 88 days). He spent a bulk of his youth occupying a bar
stool in front of DRAGON'S LAIR, a video game inside an arcade his
parents owned in Concorde, California called MR.VIDEO. From
1996-1999 he was the mastermind behind anti-music outfit ACME BAT
SUIT and released one failure of an album on Algernon Recordings.
In 1999 he enrolled in college for a degree in Database
Architecture and Design, he graduated top of his class but never
sought a career in the field. In 2000 he started a career as a tour
manager and guitar tech which managed to get him all over the
United States and Canada. From 2002-2004 he was bassist for Florida
industrial band CROSSBREED, leaving the band to pursue other
interests. He went on to start the band SAFECRACKER with former
Crossbreed drummer Chris Morris which later became CRY HAVOC A.D.
