BitDefender Antivirus for Palm OS is a free antivirus application for Palm OS. BitDefender Antivirus for Palm OS scans all executable files on the device's internal memory and provides information on the scan in a list. BitDefender Antivirus for Palm OS contains only low resolution black & white graphics, making it suitable for older devices.

Controversy

Some experts are skeptical of the protection provided against viruses by BitDefender Antivirus for Palm OS. The Creator ID of BitDefender Antivirus for Palm OS is 'STRT' which is reserved for the Codewarrior sample application. According to PalmSource conventions applications using the 'STRT' Creator ID should never be released. Further skepticism is derived from the fact that the BitDefender Antivirus for Palm OS program file is only 4,392 bytes, a fraction of the size of all it's competitors (Pocket Antivirus 6.5 is 133,597 bytes). They believe that the code required to scan for and remove current Palm OS viruses would require more than 4,392 bytes. However during tests it identified 2 viruses out of 4 loaded onto a palm personel organizer.
