BitTorrent Search Engine The first BitTorrent Search engine was
Bitoogle (later known
as Yotoshi). It was
publicly released in May of 2004 by Smash. Several other sites at
that time claiming to be bittorrent search engines but were nothing
really much more than a BitTorrent Directory or BitTorrent Index.
Since its launch, many have tried to clone Bitoogle or have
simply scraped its results, only a few have been as successful in
providing relevant results. In August 2004, Smash made
improvements to the original bitoogle search functions and re-released the
bittorrent search engine under the name Yotoshi. Currently the most advanced
BitTorrent Search Engine would be Bitjax. It would by using the publicly
released bitoogle core
and comparing the results with the ranking on other BitTorrent
Search engines.
In 2005 only 3 notable Bittorrent Search
Engines have been produced.
