Black Death is an 2010 British supernatural gothic chiller film[2], directed by Christopher Smith[3], and starring Sean Bean and Carice van Houten.[4]



The film plays in an apocalyptic medieval world during the first outbreak of the bubonic plague in England, the film follows a band of brothers whose quest to hunt down a necromancer who is rumored to have made a pact with the forces of darkness and have brought the dead to life in a small village.[5] A mercenary priest (Sean Bean) is hot on the trail of the necromancer, as well as a young monk (Eddie Redmayne) who is sent to investigate the rumours of the dead coming to life.[6]



Famke Janssen has been replaced by Carice van Houten and Lena Headey was originally casted actor before getting replaced by Famke Janssen.[11] Geoffrey Sax was originally supposed to direct before being replaced by Christopher Smith and the film is written by Dario Poloni.[12]


The film will released on 26 February 2010 in the United Kingdom[13] and comes on 28 May 2010 on DVD over Revolver Entertainment.[14]
