First popularized on the popular roleplaying game Furcadia under the name "Swiftkill's Den of the Elite", The Blackblood Alliance is a comic/graphic novel currently in creation. It is written by Kay Fedewa, and illustrations are done by both Kay Fedewa and E. Siegel. The first book in the series is set to come out before January 2007.

Setting

The Blackblood Alliance is set roughly around 10,000 years ago slightly after the Ice Age ended and glaciers began retreating. The setting is loosely based on Pacific Northwestern United States with similar ecology and geography, though the humans in the comic are based more on Inuit/Eskimos than Pacific tribes. To the north is a vast arctic tundra called The Greater North. Further south is the Inaria forest and Stoneclaw grasslands, home to the Inarian dire wolves (Canis dirus and Stoneclaw sabretooths (Smilodon fatalis). South from these lands is the Blackblood Outlands, then the Man Village territory and Alteron temperate Rainforest.

Comic Characters and Their Packs

Several packs inhabit the lands in the Blackblood Alliance comic. Each inhabit a unique environment and contain unique species and subspecies of wolves, sabretooths, and other creatures.

Blackblood Outlands

Home of the titular pack, the Blackblood Outlands is a sparse, desert environment. Near its center lies the Oasis, the only inhabitable place in the Outlands. It's populated by red trees and a small spring.

Swiftkill

Main character and leader of the Blackblood dire wolves, Swiftkill was exiled from Inaria when Rapier framed her for the death of the Alphas' pups. She has green eyes, burgundy and gray fur, and three green tattooed slash marks beneath her eyes. Swiftkill is exceptionally good at fighting, though she's strong-willed. She was named for her skills in combat, and she was the best fighter known to any pack. At one point, her duties to Inaria were her life, but when she was framed and exiled, her heart hardened, and she rarely warms up to anyone new.

Bloodspill===
Swiftkill's sister, Bloodspill is the largest Blackblood wolf standing 4 foot 6 at the shoulder. Bloodspill is a red, black, and cream-yellow wolf with three black tattoo marks underneath her yellow eyes. The large female is extremely strong, but very grumpy. She hardly smiles, and seldom speaks to anyone with the exception of Swiftkill. Bloodspill is stronger than her sister (and stronger than any other Blackblood, for that matter), but not quite as sharp as she is.

=Riptide

Swiftkill and Bloodspill's cousin and friend, Riptide is a jokester who enjoys pranking his packmates. He has two blue tattoo marks underneath his eyes and has tan and cream-gray fur. Riptide also likes to flirt with women, and often gets on the nerves of others. He likes to make fun of Bloodspill for being fat. His mother, Fairstep, was ranked just above him in the Inarian Guard.

=Nightrun

Though soft-spoken, Nightrun is one of the wisest members in the Blackblood Alliance. She is gentle, and very motherly towards everyone. Due to her slender body, she was a Runner for the Inarian Guard. Nightrun loves to feel the wind in her fur as she runs. Nightrun's colors include grey, and black. Her eyes are golden.

=Reicher

Reicher is the spoiled spawn of Bloodspill and Blade. Generally, when your mom is a legendary warrior, you tend to get a big head. Reicher isn't scared of anything, and has been taught warfare by his mother. He's a big momma's boy, and when he gets into a large problem, he always relies on his mommy to back him up. Reicher's a bit of a bully, too. He likes to pick on smaller dogs, and likes to eat foxes (much to Coldsnap's disdain).

Alteron

Alteron is the most infamous pack of all. It is lead by Queen Rapier, former Inarian dire wolf, and her mate Scimitar. Their laws include no mating, no leaving the pack once joined, and no Blackbloods. The vicious pack resides in a temperate rainforest, but, however, this area is decaying.

====Scimitar
He is the timberwolf mastermind of Alteron. He is the one who proposes all the strategic moves to execute in order to gain the most territory. He is rediculously intelligent, cool, calculating, and most importantly, though not intentionally, cruel.
His relationship with his mate is an odd one. He enjoys the power he has as King [second in command] of Alteron, and he seems to be the only one, besides his son, Blade, who doesn't completely fear Rapier. He doesn't love her, but the power they share is all he wants.
With his children, he shows no signs of preference, or even acknowledgement. He treats them as he would any low-ranking member of the pack, and, as two of them are the lowest ranking possible, that's not hard to do.

Scythe

She is the youngest of the <nowiki>"Alteron puppies"</nowiki>, but she can actually be pretty nasty. She's flirty, sarcastic, and has a dry sense of humor. However, after recieving beatings from her overbearing mother and big brother, she is rather submissive. She is very malnourished, because she cannot hunt well. She was never taught, as her mother was too busy honing Blade's skills instead. She is also mentally unstable.

Claymore

He is the middle child of Rapier and Scimitar. He gets along well with Scythe, though he is the closest of the three to their father's personality and physical appearence. He isn't as composed as Scimitar, though, which is why he can't reach his full potential. He tries to hard to be flawless. He speaks softly, is nervous and jumpy most of the time, but altways tries to remain cool on the outside. He, like his sister, is unstable and malnourished.

Blade

Blade is the chosen one of his litter, and he knows it. He constantly reminds his brother and sister of his dominance. Blade is very close to his mother,and the two often hunt together. He is not respected by either of his siblings, who snicker about him behind his back, and plot to rid themselves of him. They hope that, with him gone, their mother will give them attention.
He inherited his mother's cruel streak, and he is consumed with hate toward the Blackbloods. He fathered Reicher, the son of Bloodspill, sister of the alpha of the Blackblood Alliance.

Rapier

Rapier is envious, ruthless, menacing, unmerciful, angered and intimidating. She is well-known for her inhumane actions and is ruler of the most powerful, greatest pack in existence. She left Inaria frustrated by her parents' refusal to make her heir to the pack (despite her eliminating her siblings and banishing heir-to-be, Swiftkill). She convinced the Alteron timberwolves she was alpha material through bullying and conspiracy. Now she leads Alteron in an assault on Inaria and the Blackbloods, hoping to overwhelm their territories and further her search for power.

Cue

Cue is a Royal Knight in the Alteron territory. He is so lovingly described by Kay Fedewa as "he was benign as a collie-character, now he's a meanie poo-poo head."
However, this does not capture who he is.
Cue is cruel, as are most in Alteron. He is conceited, power-hungry, and he does not care who he steps on as he progresses through the ranks.
He absolutely hates pups, and will eat them if they annoy him to much. However, he loves females, and he will hit on them any chance he gets.
He takes his loyalty to Alteron quite seriously, but his overall loyalty remains strictly with Prince Blade.
Cue is cunning and calculating, and a true snake which makes him a most deadly foe.

Ridge

Ridge is a dog. He used to be the best friend of Rhinjin, but when Rhinjin joined the Blackblood Alliance, the two severed ties.
He is secretly mated with Spindrift, despite the fact that both would be killed if the king and queen found out.
He is very intelligent, as well as being a fairly good fighter. He is generally quiet, and he spends a lot of time thinking. He is a warrior in Alteron.
He has contemplated leaving Alteron for a while, but he doesn't.

Spindrift

Despite the reputation Alteron has for having the most ruthless, vicious wolves known, Spindrift is nearly the complete opposite. She is generally kind, compassionate, and plays basically the role of 'the good guy on the wrong side'. She is mates with Ridge, but since it is forbidden in Alteron to have a mate, their relationship is kept a secret. Spindrift was a lone wolf who desperately needed a pack. The poor girl didn't know what she was getting into by joining Alteron, and, once she realized that she'd joined a heartless pack, it was too late to leave (because, if you're caught leaving the pack, you'll be killed).
