Blame Thrower is an American Hard Rock Band, that was formed in July 2001,in Detroit, MI, and officially disbanded in October 2004. The band's music was in the invoked the musical styles of AC/DC, The Ramones, Aerosmith, and old school Detroit Rock n Roll of the MC5, and The Stooges.
The original line up of Blamethrower consisted of Lead Vocalist, Don Moss, Guitarist Nick DiBuono, Guitarist Justin Hall, Bassist Lawrence Deluca, and Drummer, Chris Connolly.
HISTORY-
Blame Thrower recorded their first release, Brick Tossing EP, with producer Jeff Ehrenburg of the band Starlight Desperation, at his home studio in the lower east side of Detroit at the end of 2001. The album was mixed at Detroit's White Room Studios, and was released in July of 2002.
The band made their debut performance on March 8, 2002 at the Old Miami in Detroit, MI as part of the Mid-by-Midwest music showcase.
Shortly after the debut, Blame Thrower endured theit first of several line up changes. Lawrence Deluca was replaced on bass by Gary Ando, and Chris Connolly was replaced on drums by Craig Cashew, who was the drummer for Detroit's legendary Trash Brats. This line up made it's debut on July 20, 2002 at the Magic Stick in Detroit, MI. This line up would establish Blame Thrower as a force in the Detroit Music Scene. Blame Thrower's live shows would build a reputaion of being loud, energetic, and chaotic, thanks in part to the sonic attack of the band's sound, and the over the top, and ferocious antics of vocalist Don Moss. This combination would make it very difficult for Blame Thrower to be able to perform with some of Detroit's more prominent bands. In fact, Blame Thrower was often shunned by their peers in the Detroit Music Scene.
2003
This year would turn out to be a turbulent year in Blame Thrower's history. The band would endure several changes at drummer. While Craig Cashew was on tour with the Trash Brats, Blame Thrower would enlistthe help of drummers Todd Burke, and Cliff Hill. THe latter was from Detroit's legendary Almighty Lumberjacks of Death.
Craig Cashew would return to perform with the band, and record the first full length album, In Stacatto Libido. The album was recorded at the White Room Studio in Detroit, MI, with John Smerek. In Stacatto Libido is Blame Thrower's finest work. The band shopped the album to record companies and media outlets all over the world, which drew some good reviews. The album also featured a cover of Joe Jackson's "Throw It Away".
Craig Cashew would step down from the drummer's seat in May 2003, and be replaced by Chris Christie, and later replaced by Johnnny Vee, which would cap off a tumultuous 2003.
2004
In the spring of 2004, Blame Thrower would replace Johnny Vee with drummer Brandon Moss, formerly of the band Bear vs Shark, and enlisted the help of Joe Charfe, a Detroit area booking agent. For the first time in over a year, things were looking up for Blamethrower.
Unfortunately, Blame Thrower played it's last show on July 17, 2004 in Port Huron, MI. It was twelve days later, on July 29, 2004, that vocalist Don Moss was killed in a workplace accident. The tragedy shook the members of Blame Thrower, and the support they would recieve from the local music community in Detroit had confused the band. They had appreciated the support, but were also bothered by the fact that many of these bands wanted nothing to do with Blame Thrower when the band was active. A few members saw at as: "We're no longer a threat to them, so it's easier for them to embrace us."
After Don's accident, the band had a commitment to record their next album at the White Room in Detroit. For the recording, Craig Cashew would return to the band to fill the departed Don Moss's shoes to record the album Homage. After recording Homage, Blamethrower officially disbanded.
