A BlogBurst is a movement by a large number of
bloggers to simultaneously post
content on a given topic. One of the most recent being a BlogBurst
in support of the Danish newspaper,
Jyllands-Posten posting of a cartoon
depicting the Islamic prophet
Mohammed. Bloggers from around the world posted the
cartoon on their web sites at the same time.
BlogBurst is a opt-in syndication
service that brings together blogs and high-traffic, big-brand
media and publisher sites to expose blogs to their audiences, while
driving exposure, reach and traffic for the blogger. The service
was launched (beta) by
Pluck
Corporation, a social media software company based in Austin,
Texas in February of 2006.
BlogBurst drives awareness, exposure
and traffic to participating blogs through attributed headlines
with post title and source and the display of full posts on the
publisher site . Publishers are able to draw from a rich and
diverse pool of licensed, reviewed, independently published content
that would be otherwise difficult to obtain. As well, BlogBurst
enables publishers to incorporate content on niche and specialty
topics that may be feasible to cover with in-house or freelance
writers alone.
How it works:
Bloggers submit their blog, and
BlogBurst's editorial staff reviews submitted blogs for content
quality, topical relevance, style and overall value to top-tier
publishers and their readers.
Once accepted into the BlogBurst
index, the blog's licensed content is available for selection by
publishers to display on their online destinations (ex. online
newspapers, online magazines, etc.) Publishers embed selected
content within specific areas on their sites using the BlogBurst
API.
