Blue-Sky Thinking can mean open-minded thinking
or it can mean brainstorming.
In addition 'Blue-Sky
Thinking' is used in terms of project management to imply a project
which would be a pioneering venture to perform. 'Blue-sky'
strategists in this field are often expert, senior or seasoned
individuals who are used to conceptualisation in an aspect of their
work which requires them to expand from more mundane project
undertaken by a corporation.
For example, in the arena of
Strategic Advice, the DfES group is an organisation of
non-departmental public bodies, think tanks and specialist
organisations working togeher with the Department for Education and
Skills to provide thought on the future planning of the e-strategy
- what would the world of education in the UK be like in 2020 and
