BlueCat Networks Inc. is a Canadian based company that develops and manufactures network security appliances. Founded in 2001 by brothers Michael and Richard Hyatt, BlueCat Networks specializes in IP address management, dedicated DNS/DHCP management appliances and an email security gateway.

Corporate history

In 2001, when the tech bubble burst, we didn’t even think about trying to raise capital —
it probably wasn’t even possible since most VCs were running scared as a result of the
technology blows to their portfolios. We basically believed that we had a fantastic appliance,
and that there would be a big demand for it. Luckily we were right.

We have had almost 5 years of very strong growth, with no venture capital and no debt. In fact,
we have been profitable for 4 years straight. We’re sure there are few (if any) network appliance
companies around that can claim the same.

When we started, it was just the two of us. We continue to grow quickly and currently have over
85 employees. Our revenues and profits are also very impressive, where we've grown over 300%
from last year. With offices in the Washington D.C, Toronto and our newest office in Frankfurt Germany,
BlueCat is expanding; and this just the start!
