Blue are an English boy band, featuring four singers: Simon Webbe, Lee Ryan, Duncan James and Anthony Costa. The band has had success in both the United Kingdom and international arena, with about 15 million records sold world-wide. The group originally formed in 2001 before splitting in 2005. In April 2009, the group reunited and a Best of Blue Tour was announced.

All Rise: 2001–2002

The band released their debut single "All Rise" in May 2001 and it reached number 4 in the UK singles chart. Blue's second single was released in August with the chart-topping "Too Close", a cover version of Next's US number 1 hit produced by Ray Ruffin. Their second number one came in November with "If You Come Back" co-written BY Nicole Anderson (Formescu) & produced by Ray Ruffin. album All Rise, which was released in time for Christmas and reached number one, eventually selling in excess of about 1.8 million albums sold in the UK. Blue reached number six in March 2002 with their fourth single, "Fly By II"—a remix of album track "Fly By", which also went to number 30 in Portugal.

One Love and Guilty: 2002–2004

Their second studio album One Love was released in 2002. The album entered at UK number 1, where it stayed for one week. Three singles were released from the album: "One Love" (UK number 3), "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" featuring Elton John (UK number 1), and "U Make Me Wanna" (UK number 4). Guilty (the album and the single [UK number 2]) was released in the fall of 2003. The next singles were "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" (sung with Stevie Wonder and Angie Stone) (UK number 11), "Breathe Easy" (UK number 4), and "Bubblin'" (UK number 9). The album Guilty sold more than 1 million albums in the UK.

Best of Blue, split, solo careers: 2004–2008

The band decided to split after Elton John suggested that their popularity was decreasing and that they should concentrate on their solo careers. Best of Blue greatest hits compilation was released in 2004, which contained all-time hits including new tracks such as Curtain Falls, "Get Down On It" and "Only Words I Know". The album was #2 on charts in Portugal with an double platinum certification.

  • Duncan James released "I Believe My Heart" with Keedie in October 2004, reaching number 2 in the UK Singles Chart and his solo album, Future Past was released in 2006 reaching number 55 in the UK, selling 15,000 copies in Britain. Duncan has found more success in Italy, where his album peaked at number 2 and the singles have been Top 5 hits. He's currently starring in London's West End in the musical Chicago as Billy Flynn.
  • Lee Ryan released "Army Of Lovers" in July 2005, reaching number 3 and a self-titled solo album in August 2005 reaching #6. Lee's album was successful in Italy too, peaking at number 3 and spending 5 weeks in the Italian Top 10.
  • Simon Webbe released "Lay Your Hands" in August 2005, reaching number 4, and his debut album, Sanctuary reached number 7 in the UK Album Chart, selling over 700,000 copies. Simon was the only band member to release a second solo album, Grace with a third album in the works.
  • Antony Costa released a single, "Do You Ever Think of Me", before going into acting and performing in Blood Brothers and in the new year had arranged to be touring with Boogie Nights. Costa's debut album, Heart Full of Soul was released on 3 July 2006 in the UK and Ireland.

Reunion, new album, Best of Blue Tour: 2010-present

On April 16, 2009, it was revealed that the band are in talks to get back together and record some new material, as they still have a 3-record-deal with Innocent Records and EMI Music [1]. Blue have confirmed that a new album will be released in 2010, after they finish the Best of Blue Tour.

On the 28 April 2009, Blue confirmed that they will be performing for the first time back together at 95.8 Capital FM's Summertime Ball which took place at London's Emirates Stadium on June 7 2009. They also performed at the Silverstone Classic festival several weeks later.[2] They will also perform at charity event Midlands Music Festival, on August 8. It's been announced that dance group Flawless from Britain's Got Talent will be joining the boys on their tour and were personally invited by Duncan, Simon also knows one of the members. The tour is due to start in the UK during 2010.
