Bmtron is a classic computer game.
The main object of the game, which is similar to Snake, is to trap your opponents before they trap you.
It is a 1-4 player game, but it is also possible to play against the computer.
The player must avoid walls as well as other players' tails.
There is an option for team play.
Bmtron includes multiple colors for users' characters such as red, blue, green, grey, and others.
If playing with four human players, it can become crowded around the keyboard.
However, Playing with four players is really the only way to play, with comical insults playing a large part in the strategy-If your opponent laughs then it makes them more likely to miss a tight corner.
Having said this, different strategys can be developed with different numbers of players.
In One on One matches, for example, a player must rely more on thier own abilities to block others off rather than the other players to fight it out among eachother.
In recent times Bmtron has staged a massive resurgance in popularity, as schools across Australia and Bath have caught onto this addictive multi-player madness.
There are also other versions of BMTron, such as Fmtron, where boosts in speed are allowed, helping to add to the inevitable fun that is undoubtedly attached to the experience that is BMTron.
Within the game itself, a common skill that must be mastered is the "block" or "corner", whereby a competitor will either block off his opponent(s)in an attempt to reduce the space with which they can manouver their snake.
Upon being blocked off, it is not uncommon for the "blockee", that is, the competitor that has been blocked, to express their disgust through profanity such as; "Oh, f***", or "you will pay for that you f***er", or for the more composed competitor, "Oh blow, there goes my turn.
I will target that darn competitor who has just blocked me off with a vengeance, and endevour to eliminate their snake!".
It is also common for the losing Competitor to make up wild excuses to explain thier loss such as "Its not my usual colour, I like Pink better than Cyan" or " I prefer Arrows to WASD".
It is also a common occurance for the players to hurl hideous comments each others way, in an attempt to put off an opponent.
Things such as " I'll block you up with my snake..." or " your mum" are the most commonly used tronner terms.
It is also a key tool to use a comedy edge, in order to annoy a competitor into an unforced error of judgement.
Crying with laughter at quotes such as " My snake is bigger than yours" or "My snake is growing" is un-professional and is unlikely to get you anywhere near the top of the BMTRON rankings!
Players of Bmtron are usually given the default names of Player 1, 2, 3 and 4.
However, these can be altered and names such as 'cool-snake-13' or 'Jouen's mum' often used instead.
These can often help to cement friendships as well as give supporters a name to chant.
It is not uncommon to hear the names of the current tronner hero being called throughout the playground, with children and adults alike arguing over who will be the next Max Wratten or Oli Washbrook.
There are a few tactics that are used while playing BMtron.
Firstly, theres the Jouen Spiral.
Players using this tactic will make a spiral at the start of each individual game to give them time to see who is going where, and then move into the area with the most space.
However, this tactic is extremely unreliable and altogether stupid, as it will often give other players enough time to corner the spiralling player in, hence why it is aptly named the 'Jouen' (slang in Bath, UK, for 'Stupid').
Another tactic is Imaginatively called the Trap Tactic or "dummy", where a player will section off an area of the board large enough to outlast the rest of the players, and will leave a gap one snake wide.
Hopefully the other player will go through the gap, leaving the clever the trapping player to move in to corner offf a tiny square of space, therefore destroying that snakes hope of triumphing.
One other tactic is the Chinese Feather Hand, where players will try to emulate the computer by rapidly moving side to side and/or up and down.
The purpose this serves is to make an edge of an area that the other players cannot follow, cutting down their space.
When playing BMTron it is suggested that you assume what has become affectionately known as the "arch stance", whereby the competitors hand assumes an arch position, in an attempt to counter the brutal effects of the skilled BMTronner's worst nightmare, handcramps.
A handcramp can render even the most refined "tronner" as useless as a beginner, which can be both humiliating and appaling on all levels to the victim of such an injury.
Handcramp can sideline a competitor for up to 10 minutes in the more severe cases, and there is no known immediate cure for the attacks.
The tyrannical rule of secretaries in Bath schools have forced the more experienced Tronners underground.
Games must be hurried during small breaks or lunch, or played in the circle of doom where computers cannot be seen.
Due to this, BMtron has built up a cult fanbase of thrillseekers, both sportsmen and observers knowing at any minute, one could be banned from the network for as long as a week.
To play BMTron, visit, www.google.com, then type in "BMTron", and click on one of the many links that glorify this fantastic game, or arguably sport.
But be warned, once you play one game, you can kiss goodbye any short-term goals such as job promotion, or high grades, as BMTron will become an obsession for you.
No, really, it does.
