Bob Carpenter is a long-time sportscaster and current television play-by-play announcer for the Washington Nationals on MASN. Carpenter is widely associated with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball television broadcast team.

With the Nationals Carpenter was teamed with former major-league oufielder Tom Paciorek in the 2006 season, but Paciorek's contract was not renewed for 2007.[1] For the 2008 season, he teamed with Hall-of-Fame pitcher Don Sutton, who then left to call radio broadcasts for the Atlanta Braves.[2] Carpenter is teaming with new broadcast partner Rob Dibble in 2009.

Carpenter served two stints with the Cardinals, and also spent fifteen seasons as a baseball announcer with ESPN, covering college baseball and minor league baseball in addition to the major leagues. He also served as a team broadcaster for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers.[3]

Carpenter has developed his own scorebook, which is now used by many major and minor league announcers.[4]

Carpenter is a two-time St. Louis-area Emmy Award winner for his coverage of the Cardinals.

Carpenter also contributes daily reports to Tulsa-area sports radio station KYAL 97.1 The Sports Animal.
