Education

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Fitzgerald also received his Masters Degree in Sports Management from The Ohio State University. While at Notre Dame, he worked as a play-by-play broadcaster for Fighting Irish football and basketball on campus radio station WVFI.

Cranium

May have the largest head of any of the KNBR hosts, and NBA broadcasters.

KNBR

Rod and Bob often joke around about how Rod's LSU Tigers won the BCS Championship while Bob's Fighting Irish went 3-9 [3] .

The show airs weekdays from noon to 3pm Pacific Time on KNBR 680. Since Rod won their football picks contest, Rod is referred to as The Champ. Callers will often call and say "Hi Fitz and the Champ". They casually talk about "Fitz and Brooks University".

Due to the tremendous height difference between the diminutive Fitz and the basketball-player-sized Rod, they cut a figure reminiscent of Mutt & Jeff, or the number 10. Bob also has a bumper sticker on the back of his Kia Rio that says "Short People Rock!"

Bob once climbed Mt. Everest and placed a USC towel attached to a pole at the summit.

Rod's main ride is still a moped. Bob has also provided his voice for the NBA 2K video game series.

Golden State Warriors

Bob is the television play by play announcer for the NBA's Golden State Warriors. He had succeeded the job from Greg Papa in 1998. Known for making his callers wait in excess of two hours, Fitzgerald rarely engages in discourse pertaining to accountability in the Warriors' front office. Frequently, when bad PR breaks in the news for the Warriors, Fitzgerald will wait until the last two segments to address whatever happened.

In addition, Bob Fitzgerald regularly discusses Notre Dame sports on his West Coast radio show without any apparent instigation, inspiration or reason.

Personal Life
