Synergy Brass QuintetBorn in
Norman, Oklahoma, Bobby first started his career in Washington,
D.C. performing with jazz and rock
bands. As a youth he performed
in the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra, an ensemble founded by
Dizzy
Gillespie. As
a rock musician he has opened for The
Mighty Mighty Bosstones,
Patti Smith,
Joe Strummer
of
the Clash
and
Adam “MCA” Yauch of the
Beastie Boys.
In 1996 he founded the
Synergy Brass Quintet where he
currently
serves as 1st
trumpet . His playing has been described as having
“blazing precision” and “dazzling articulation”
by the Watertown
Daily Times, WI. He has performed at many of the Nation’s prominent
music festivals
including: the
Tanglewood Music Festival,
Ravinia Music Festival,
Bethlehem Music
Fest,
The Boston Early
Music
Festival. In 2005 as a member of the
Synergy Brass
Quintet, he was featured in a live television broadcast
with
the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir that
appeared on
NBC,
CBS and the
Hallmark Channel. An advocate
for
New Music,
Bobby has premiered and commissioned numerous works including
“Sonata for Trumpet” by
Daniel
Pinkham and “Transfiguration: An
Ecumenical Mass” by
Samuel Adler. Known also as a clinician and
educator
he has also presented numerous master classes and clinics
around the country. He has taught at the
Shenandoah
Conservatory,
Shenandoah Arts Academy, Elizabeth Seton High School and the
Boston
University Tanglewood
Institute. He has studied under Terry
Everson, Chris Gekker and
Rolf Smedvig. Bobby can be heard the
Paraclete.

currently lives in Boston where he is also active as a
painter
and
sculptor.
