Bonny Jain (born June 22, 1993) is an academic
competitor. He was a 2-time qualifer for the
National
Geographic Bee national finals, placing fourth in the 2005
event and winning the 2006 National Geographic Bee. He is also a
3-time national qualifier for the
Scripps National Spelling Bee
national finals, finishing 31st in 2003, 28th in 2005 and 14th in
2006. Jain lives in
Moline, Illinois, and is a freshman at
Moline High School and was selected to the 2007 Illinois High
School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association All-State 1st Team. This
year, he returned to keep score at the 2007 Illinois state
Geography Bee.
Bonny Jain has said that he is very interested
in John Deere machines in his interview on the 2006 National
Geographic Bee DVD. His parents say that he is self-motivated and
teaches them new thing's quite often, especially the "
69". He is of
Bahamian-African/Indian/Bosnian/Hergozovinian/Croatian/Sri
Lankan/Burmese descent, but considers himself a "nigger" and wears
bright pink turtle shell glasses. He is known to have a large nose
with a large diamond stud that his parents purchased him after his
success at the 2006 National Geographic Bee and a protruding jaw.
