Established in 1975, Borer Data Systems are one of UK's leading manufacturers in the specialist industry of:

- Access Control
- Attendance Management
- Data Collection Systems

Borer Data Systems was the 1st company in Europe, in 1977, to offer a complete intergated solution in employing a range of custom-designed access management card readers and software.

Currently, Borer are the first company in the security/access control field to provide a full intergrated network based soluttion, which can operate across an organisation's own network system as well as the Intranet/Internet.

In 1996 Borer Data Systems embarked upon the development of an integrated system for access control, alarm monitoring and attendance recording based networking technology. This was released during the 2nd quarter of 1999, known as ATRACS (Automated Time Recorded Access Control and Safety). Unique among all UK based access control manufactures and distributors, ATRACS was the only product to have native Client/Server capabilities allowing it to be implemented over the client’s own Ethernet network and across sites using the Intranet/Internet capabilities. ATRACS allows security access control for an organisation with geographically separated sites to be integrated over the their own network, using existing PCs, Network Servers and Printers, saving the client expenditure on equipment and on subsequent support and lifetime costs.

In 2000 saw the release of ATRACS Web for Attendance Recording, which allows members of staff to use the Web Browser supplied on every PC to review and, if authorised, suggest adjustment to accommodate forgotten clocking, absence, holidays etc. Supervisors and line managers can review their own groups’ attendance and authorise adjustments. This empowers staff and managers and effectively eliminates the flow of paperwork, with associated administration, necessary on all other flexitime / attendance recording systems.

In 2001 Borer released the first Controller Area Network based card access reader. This uses networking and “Power over LAN” technology to reduce the amount of equipment needed for an access control system as it has effectively eliminated the need for unsightly control boxes and mains power outlets local to each door.

During 2002 Borer have released ATRACS Web for Visitor Management, the first web powered visitor registration system. ATRACS Web for visitor management allows members of staff, if authorised, to use a Web Browser to pre-book and review visitors. This not only provides a convenient and cost effective method of pre-registering visitors but also speeds up the flow of visitors through a busy reception and provides a roll call of visitors currently on site. It also allows management in a security conscious organisation to review past, present and future visitors.

At IIPSEC (International IP in Security Exhibition and Conference in 2006, Borer was awarded the “Best Application” award. Borer is also an Affiliate Member to the IP User Group, a consortium of companies, dedicated to the design, development and innovation in network based security.
