The Boungcloud Attack (Also spelled "Bongcloud") is a dubious chess opening characterized by the following moves:

:1. e4 e5
:2. Ke2

The name comes from the chess.com member Lenny_Bongcloud, well known as one of the lowest rated player at the site, with a rating of about 360 (The average member has a 1300 rating, and players start with 1200). The Boungcloud Attack has no serious theory at present, except for several joke forums at chess.com, in which the White King marches out into the middle of the board and is checkmated easily. There are no recorded games at Chessgames.com with the Boungcloud, as very few serious players use this opening.

The Boungcloud is considered to be a dubious following move to 1. e4 any. The problems with 2. Ke2?! are that the King move prevents castling to protect the King, endangers the King, ignores development and the center, and blocks the Queen and Bishop, which are the two pieces that are free after 1. e4. All that being said, it can be used as a surprise to unseat Black, as some players may be unable to cope with the unfamiliar board positions of the Boungcloud Attack. However, it requires good planning and some dubious moves by Black in order to ensure victory. Some of the nonsensical lines created at chess.com are 2. Ke2?! d5 3. Kd3? Nc6 4. Kc3 Nxe4 5. Kb3, and 1. e4 e5 2. Ke2?! Ke7?!, the "Boungcloud Attack - Symmetric Variation."
