Notes

• Najah Salah Ali (IRQ) received a wild card from the IOC.

• Toshiyuki Igarashi (JPN) replaced Noman Karim (PAK) as a lucky loser, because the Pakistani fighter dropped "due to technical reasons".

• Suleiman Bilali (KEN) was pulled out of competition due to leg injury a week before the Olympic Games. He was attacked by thugs during an early morning jogging outside his home in the sprawling Eastleigh residential district in Nairobi in January. The first reserve from Namibia, Joseph Jermia, entered in his place.
