<!-- End of AfD message,
feel free to edit beyond this point --> 'BoyChat
is an Internet forum for individuals who are
attracted to underage boys.Founded in 1995 by "Kasper," the board is the
most active member of the Free
Spirits boylove coalition, with over 3000 registered
posters.<ref>http://www.boychat.org/nicklist/nicklist.htm</ref>
Its posters -- who usually refer to themselves as
"boylovers"<ref>http://boychat.org/faq.html#qanda</ref>
-- mostly use it for support and discussion of activism or topics
related to boys and life as a minor-attracted
individual.BoyChat also
aims to aid pedophiles and hebephiles in accepting their
attraction, arguing that "people who have bottled-up emotions are
dangerous to themselves and
others."<ref>http://freespirits.org/</ref>
Anyone
who follows Boychat's seven
rules may post, including those who are hostile to
minor-attracted individuals.A team of moderators known as "cogs" moderate
the board, enforcing the seven rules in order to ensure the
continued existence and legality of the board as well as the
privacy of its posters.
Controversy
The controversial
content on BoyChat causes its legal status to be called into
question on a regular basis. It is generally accepted that BoyChat is
monitored by several law enforcement agencies, including the FBI
and the RCMP.Law
enforcement officials have never taken any action against BoyChat
or its web hosts.Some
participants of BoyChat have been linked to criminal activity; the
BoyChat FAQ acknowledges that a number of posters have at some
point been imprisoned on charges of child sexual abuse or
possession of child
pornography.<ref>http://boychat.org/faq.html#jail</ref>
On
November 3, 2006, BoyChat's ISP, Epifora, was
disconnected<ref>http://www.xtra.ca/public/viewstory.aspx?STORY_ID=2418&PUB_TEMPLATE_ID=2</ref><ref>
http://sadlynormal.wordpress.com/2006/10/24/pedophile-web-cut-group-get-sites-pulled-by-going-to-top/</ref>
from the Verizon Internet backbone after Perverted-Justice.com declared Verizon
to be a "Corporate Sex Offender."This label was invented by
Perverted-Justice.com to designate any company that allegedly
facilitates pedophile activism. The threat of negative publicity associated
with being declared a "Corporate Sex Offender" has been very
effective in obtaining compliance from the designated
companies.<ref>http://www.perverted-justice.com/index.php?pg=cso</ref>
BoyChat was subsequently dropped by another ISP after campaigns by
Perverted-Justice.com.These campaigns were based on their claims that
BoyChat exists for the purpose of advocating child sexual abuse and
encouraging illegal
activity.<ref>http://www.perverted-justice.com/index.php?updates=recent</ref>
These claims led to the disconnection of BoyChat for perceived
Terms of
Service violations.
