Boy Turns Hero is an
Irish punk rock band, formed in late
2005 under the name
Straight To Finish.
Originally they were node, a four piece pop cock
punk band consisting of Ciaran Nugent (The Newg) on
Guitar, Rakan Mansouri on
Bass and two others until they recruited another guitarist, Gareth O'Connor (the muffin, GOC).
They played under the name Straight To Finish until losing their drummer, their singer and their manhoods.
They decided it would be best if Goc, (the man with many tassles), became the new drummer since he was a drummer first, guitarist second.
Now the issue of a new guitarist and lead singer had to be dealt with.
The band seemed to be at an end until, through a friend, they met Chris Keegan, who agreed to play guitar in the band.
They then changed their name to Boy Turns Hero and began writing songs.
They practised for a couple of months, auditioning various singers until they met Gary Kelly.
They had seen him play in other bands and decided to audition him; from the first practice they agreed that he would be their new singer.
Since then the band have been working on their hard-ons, writing songs, playing shows and recording their material and are planning on releasing an
E.P. in late
2007.
To date (like the fruit) they have played numerous shows in venues all over
Dublin including
Temple Bar Music Centre and have played alongside bands such as
Heideroosjes from the
Netherlands,
Out Of Sight from the
U.K. and
Movies With Heroes from the
U.S.
