Boyforce are an international boy band formed in the summer of 2008 during the pre camp era of Summit Camp. They have had major success and acclaim throughout the Wayne county area. With differing levels of success in parts of Europe and Asia and are currently in the process of trying to "crack" the USA market.

BoyForce was founded in 2008 by Justin Clark, Luke Reid, Nathan Humphreys, Scott Briggs and Olly Pike. These five are the founding and current members of the phenomenon that has now become BoyForce. Before even recording any material they had a huge following throughout the North East Pennsylvania area and the buzz surrounding their inaugural gig during staff orientation has been likened to that of the Beatles during the 1960's.

The first gig is thought to be a contender for the Guiness book of world records for decibel level at a concert. The screams of the girls in the front 3 rows were said to be heard as far away as London and Tokyo. They are still awaiting confirmation from The Guiness book of world records for a record of amount of signs made by fans on the day of a gig. Their first set was a medley of two Backstreet Boys songs. The two songs are Larger than life and I want it that way. The practice hours that the five members put in during the run up to the gig was said to have left them exhausted and barely able to function throughout the day. As many fans will testify to though it was well worth it and the performance that the boys gave has been compared to that of a Rolling Stones and U2 concert.


The band consists of five members

Justin Clark is considered by female fans to be the best looking of the group. He grew up in a small village in South Wales and was only allowed out once a week and only at night time. He was considered too dangerously good looking to be unleashed on the daytime viewing public. He has been a performer all his life and currently holds the record for the highest amount of money taken on one night while carol singing during the christmas period as a child. He was offered a place at the London Academy Of Music And Dramatic Arts and also at Juilliard School in New York. He turned down both of these offers to pursue a rugby career which was tragically cut short during an acccident where he lost both his big toe nails.


Scott Briggs is considered by "some" to be the lead member of the band and also by the bands male fans to be the best looking. He is also listed as the shortest member of any boyband in the northern hemisphere. There is rumour of a gay Argentinian midget in a boyband in Bolivia who is 1 inch shorter but this is unconfirmed and currently under investigation. Scott is considered to be a born performer. Born into an army family while in Germany his first performance was as one of the Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music while as a youngster in germany. He then moved to london where he was spotted busking in Covent Garden by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and asked to perform an audition for Oliver in the west end. He was sadly unsuccesful in his audition and emotion got the better of him and was said to have cried non stop for 3 and a half years. Things have obviously turned around in his life now since the inception of BoyForce.


Nathan Humphreys is considered by "most" to be the outcast member of the band because of his bright ginger hair and it is a well known fact that nobody likes a ginger. He has not let this stigma hold him bacck though and is second only to Justin in his "poker chip count". He had a tough upbringing on the mean dirty streets of Colac, Victoria. Despite being from an area that is so bad he is very proud of his roots. The residential ones and the ginger ones. He is not the most talented member of the band but that could be due to his ADD. But he is very persistent and puts in the hard work during practice unless there are females present. If there are then it can be very hard to get him to concentrate but this cannot be blamed on ADD and is probably more down to his perverted mind.


Luke Reid is said to be one of the most hygienic members of the band along with Olly Pike. This is debatable upon first appearances due to his facial hair and also his dreadlocks. He has taken steps to correct this and is currently as this is going to press engaging in a beard off where he has fully shaved all facial hair. He is born and bred Australian who is very patriotic. This can be an issue when attempting to get visa's for entry into countries due to his convict background being australian. He claims to be the "one" who came up with the idea of BoyForce but this is hotly contested by the other founding members. He has been in the entertainment business for the past 10 years and for the past 8 years has been the chief cheer leader for Geelong Cats. He had wanted to be a playing member of the team but was only offered the position of waterboy like Bobby Boucher from the Adam Sandler film The Waterboy.


Oliver Pike is considered to be the token gay member of the band. This was insinuated by Nathan Humphreys as Olly went for half of the summer of 2008 before kissing a girl on camp but has since showed himself not to be gay after a sunday night in the Limerick. He attented the Devon School For Farmers Sons Performing Arts and has been one of their most succesful graduates. He has starred in numerous west country plays including such hit titles as "Who Drank My Cider" and " I've Got A Brand New Combine Harvester". It was this eternal need for having to be in the spotlight that drove him into BoyForce. He is considered to be the most intelligent member of the band being the only one with a univeristy degree. Although it has been accused that the degree is not in coastal conservation management as he states but actually in "ciders of the cider bar in Newton Abbott in Devon".



The Gigs


The first gig that BoyForce were asked to perform was for the staff talent night during the orientation of camp. BoyForce requested to be the final act as they consider themselves to be headline material. But this request was turned down and they were put in as the penultimate act. This drove them to give one of the best performances ever given on stage to prove their doubters wrong. The gig was weeks in the planning. They brought in a chief choreographer named Charlotte Evans who was flown over all the way from the UK. She worked with the boys late into the summer evenings and past midnight on many occassions until they were finally considered ready. To build the tension and anticipation of the audience thousands of posters were distributed throughout camp and their gig was the talking point of most conversations that day. They also recruited famed music director. Stef McGlen to create and direct their video introduction.


They were introduced on stage by their manager Lexington Freeman. They met Lex while looking into performing at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. They returned to their vehicle to find Lex dressed in a tracksuit breaking into their tour bus to steal the radio. They went to make a citizens arrest but upon talking to Lex and finding out about his tough life on the mean streets of the Wirrall decided to offer him the job of manager.

Upon the huge unrivalled success of their first gig they were asked by the upper management of camp to perform in the biggest show of the summer which is the annual 4th of July show. They were asked to open the show as just their performance alone would keep the crowd on a high for at least 6 hours. The audience for the second show was double that of the original and was put by some sources to be as high as 150,000. Although this cannot be verified or published as due to safety regulations the Rec Hall is only permitted to hold 600 people.

The second show was without one of the founding members. Luke Reid was asked by Simon Cowell to fly to London to accept an award for Best breakthrough act on behalf of the band at the annual Sony BMG award show. The band not wanting to perform as a 4 piece brought in an alternate for one night only. Neale Fraser was asked to step into the very big shoes vacated by Luke. Luke was still able to make an appearance at the show though due to a satelite video link live from London he was able to issue an apology for missing the show and also introduce the boys on stage.


The Future


BoyForce are embarking on a summer tour of the east coast of the USA starting on 26th August in Wrightsville Beach, NC. They have hired a state of the art tour bus and the whole band and their manager will be going along with a few groupies. Buzz along the east coast is already reaching fever pitch with some blogs about the band crashing servers of websites due to the high volumes of posts. Once the tour is over they are expected to sign multi million dollar contracts with major record labels and are already being lined up by major companies like Pepsi, Sony and Microsoft for advertising campaigns. They are being lined up to fill the gap in the american music market for boybands since the end of The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync. In most of the music circles 2009 is already being labelled the year of BoyForce.
