Brad Riter is the
sports radio talk show host of "The Brad Riter Show." It
airs between 7-10 PM on
WGR 550
from
Buffalo, New York. With current
Buffalo
Bills wide receiver
Lee Evans, Brad co-hosts "The Lee Evans Show,"
Monday nights from 7-8 PM. During the NHL season, he is the voice
of the
Buffalo
Sabres intermission and postgame shows on WGR. On occasion,
Brad has been known to drink
Yoo-hoo, the American
chocolate-flavored beverage. He has also been
known to wear
white
trousers after
Labor Day, an
obvious homage to his favorite
Genesis member,
Phil Collins.
Soul Megaphone's upcoming release, "Songs That Make You Think
the Phone is Ringing," is due out in time for the 2007 holiday
season.
Brad has created many talk radio innovations, including
"Knee-Jerk Reactions," "The Riter Cup" (which Brad has discussed
bringing back), "The World-Famous LAMAR: Super Computer," "The
Truth Detector" (used mostly on former Buffalo Bills GM
Tom Donahoe and
former Bills coaches
Gregg Williams and
Mike Mularkey) and
"Monkey LockBox" (a proposed reality show involving humans and
chimpanzees). He was the first to predict that the 2005-06 Buffalo
Sabres would have a glorious season and would go deep into the
playoffs.
Brad Riter coined the name "Ko-J" for Buffalo Bills
rookie safety
Ko
Simpson. He feels that Simpson should wear number 32, in
reference to Bills great
O.J. Simpson.
Whilst performing his duties as a
radio host, Brad's soft, silky and soothing voice helps to relax
his listeners. Often, this results in his audience becoming drowsy,
sometimes falling completely asleep. This damages his ratings, as
many of the people who call in do not make any sense.
Since Brad
generally works nights, he can be seen days in Downtown
Buffalo,
New York manning his
Souvlaki-on-a-Stick cart, which caters to
Hot Dog cart vendors who
really don't have a quick, cheap place for
lunch, if you really think about it. This
innovation earned Brad the 2004
Entrepeneur of the Year Award, as is handed out
each year by Long-time
Buffalo Sabres favorite Dave Snuggerud. Since
then, Brad has also won awards from Former
Buffalo Bills Favorite
Butch Rolle, and
National Professional
Soccer League Legend and
Mullet haircut proponent Rudy
Pikuzinski.
*It should be noted that not all of Brad's
listeners are exceptionally skilled at realizing which letters get
capitalized, and which do not, when writing out
sentences.**Brad is an avid bar league softball player and
plays for
Paul
Hamilton's "Question Marks." His career higlights include the
2002 season when he batted .800 (8 for 10), including two triples
and a home run. Despite a tough 2006 season, in which he batted
just .250, he maintains a lifetime batting average of .410.
Brad is the bassist for the
progressive rock/
funk/
existentialist band
Soul Megaphone (SoMeg).
A local guitarist nicknamed "Frankus Maximus" plays guitar and a
Canadian named Millbank is permitted to play the tambourine, as
long as Canadians behave themselves at the games throughout the
current NHL season. Known as "Bad Brad," Brad Riter will throw
rotten vegetables at unruly fans during SoMeg concerts. He has
suffered numerous head injuries while attempting to crowd surf. He
was once sued when one of his shoes flew off his foot and hit an
elderly woman in the head. SoMeg's upcoming debut album is titled,
"Songs that Make You Think the Phone is Ringing." SoMeg is planning
a one-stop concert tour at Ralph Wilson Stadium, pending
negotiations with the Buffalo Bills and Good Taste.
Brad is
obsessed with monkeys and the phrase, "His father is the District
Attorney!" He has also admitted on the air to really enjoying the
film "
Serendipity".
It is thought by many in the
WNY community that Brad works best when paired with a gorilla named
george.
