The brain-disabled characters (Chinese: 脑残体; "Martian Script": 腦殘躰) is the name of a kind of Internet slang used by some after-ninety netizens ('90s netizens in Mainland China).^[1] For this, the after-ninety generation has a disparaging name as brain-disabled people. These kind of characters can be usually seen in user's names or signatures of some after-ninety netizens in Tencent QQ or BBS. Brain-disabled characters is usually considered as a symbol of after-ninety generation's non-mainstream culture.

How to transform

• Use traditional characters, variant form characters, ideogrammic compound characters or form-similar characters instead.

有时候→宥時候

• Put a radical in the character (or change the radical) at random.

什么→叶吆

• Use letters or special symbols instead.

一种→1.种

• Use Homonyms instead.

想念→湘埝

• Cut the character into two or combine the two characters into one.

火星→煋

• Example 1:

NSC: 有时候不知道脑子里在想什么。 (English: Sometimes I don't know what I am thinking about in my brain.)

BDC: 宥時候卜之辺腦孑哩菑緗叶吆。

• Example 2:

NSC: 每天想念你已成了一种习惯。 (English: Missing you every day has already become a kind of habit.)

BDC: 莓兲湘埝祢巳宬孑1.种漝掼。

• Example 3:

NSC: 王八、火星、美金 (English: bastard, Mars, United States dollar)

BDC: 兲、煋、鎂
