Brandon Darner (born
February,
1977), was a replacement percussionist for
Slipknot. He was recruited after the firing
of
Greg
Welts, which left Slipknot in need of a second percussionist.
He served as
Joey Jordison's drum tech and
Mick Thomson's guitar tech.
He was replaced by
Chris Fehn, current member. In the late 90's
Brandon was also a drummer for the band "Sector7" and bass player
for "One Cup Fat". Darner did have short success with (Slipknot
founder)
Shawn
Crahan's other band
To My Surprise, but has now left the band. He
is currently a guitarist in Iowa based band
The Envy Corps. His
mask was an old ogre with gray hair and kind of looked like Shawn's
clown mask.
Darner had 2 open-heart surgeries at a very young
age, one surgery to put in an artificial valve and the second
surgery to replace the first one. He was not expected to live past
18 years old.
