Brandon Soo Hoo (born November 2, 1995) is an American Teen actor[1] who had a role in the 2008 Ben Stiller film Tropic Thunder. He is currently a freshman in Temple City High School.
Brandon Soo Hoo was born November 2, 1995 in United States. He began his acting career in 2006, at the age of 10, when he was featured in television advertisements for Toys "R" Us, Land Rover, and ExxonMobil. The following year he had bit parts on the television programs Sesame Street and the Disney Channel’s What’s the Word. Later that year he made his feature film debut in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder. He played "Tran", the young leader of the Flaming Dragons gang, alongside Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Tom Cruise, Matthew McConaughey and Nick Nolte. In 2009, he played "Young Storm Shadow" in the action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, directed by Stephen Sommers, and co-starring Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Sienna Miller. He also co-starred in the short film Chico’s Kidz alongside Chico Benymon, Essence Atkins, and other cast members from the TV series Half & Half. Soo Hoo has guest appeared on the TV series My Name is Earl starring Jason Lee and Jaime Pressly, and 'Til Death starring Brad Garrett and Joely Fisher.[2] He had a voice over role in the award winning animated series, "Family Guy", starring Seth MacFarlane, Seth Green and Mila Kunis and a guest starring role on NBC's new series "community" starring Chevy Chase, Joel McHale, Ken Jeong and Danny Pudi.
Soo Hoo has trained for five years in Tae Kwon Do and holds a black belt. He is currently training in extreme martial arts and Wing Chun Kung Fu. Soo Hoo has also received training in weapons such as the bō staff, sword, and the nunchaku.[2]
Also, in 2009 Soo Hoo was nominated for and won the award for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actor award at the Young Artists Awards for his role as "Tran" in Tropic Thunder.[3]
In 2010 Brandon was nominated for best performance in feature films - Supporting young actor award at the Young Artist Awards for his role as "Young Storm Shadow" in "GI Joe-Rise of Cobra."
