Biography

Brandon T is an American rapper born in Baltimore, Maryland. Born Brandon Thompson, he grew up in one of the roughest ghettos of west Baltimore. Everyday after school he would listen to the rappers on the local radio station 92Q, and watch Rap City on BET. This inspired Brandon to begin to freestyle and write rhymes at the age of 10. Brandon traveled to Washington DC to attend high school.

There he began to take part in freestyle battles against other MC's in and out of school, going by the name Division 867. Division coming from the street he grew up on in Baltimore. He remained victorious in all his battles until he met another MC named Chris, who was currently going by the name C-Real.

People were saying that C-Real and Brandon T were the best MC's in the school, and thought that the two should battle each other. The two MC's battled each other for 3 rounds, the winner being C-real. Brandon T and C-Real began to write rhymes and battle other rappers everyday.

The two met a producer named Ghost who was also a rapper using the name Dot-Com. Ghost told the two MC's that they were very talented and should do something with their skills seriously, to make a career out of it. Brandon T and Chris went to Ghost's studio almost everyday after school to record freestyles and various songs they had written.

Brandon T and C-Real released one mixtape "Division 867 & C-Real: Lyrical Masters", in January of 2004. The mixtape contained nine freestyle tracks. Brandon T's friend Dot-Com was also featured on the mixtape, contributing a couple of freestyles. The mixtape gained Brandon T a small following of fans that year.

The battles continued when Brandon T met a new rapper also from Baltimore named Jay D. The two battled each other months after meeting each other.
Brandon T and C-Real eventually parted ways after graduating from High School. C-Real moved to North Carolina, and Brandon moved to Huntsville, Alabama to attend Oakwood College. Brandon T continued to write rhymes and battle new opponents at Oakwood.

Brandon T began taking his music in a new direction. Dropping the name Division 867, and simply using Brandon T. He strongly felt that he should be doing his music for Jesus having a strong foundation in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. So he started writing and recording gospel rap songs, while struggling to not write secular music.

Recently Brandon T has been working on a new underground album named "Alternate Ending," an idea pitched to him by his girlfriend. The album will contain gospel music, it will be about the two paths Brandon T can take in choosing to do secular music or gospel. Division 867 is now an alter ego of Brandon's that represents his wordly or sinful self.

The first song recorded for this project was Pray For Me, featuring four of his friends from Oakwood. The next singles were "Doin My Job" and "The Desire of Ages." Based on the Ellen G. White book of the same name, this song is a summary of the life of Jesus Christ.
The single "Brandon T. VS Division 867" is a very unique song. This song is a rap battle between Brandon's two personalities. Brandon T representing good and Division 867 representing bad.

The "Alternate Ending" album will be released late 2005. Brandon T hopes that God will minister to people through this album. While still struggling to stay on the straight and narrow some secular songs are still writtin from time to time. He hopes that God will change him for good.

Brandon has several side projects other than recording and trying to get signed. Brandon T is a member of the band Out of Sight, which plays D.C. Go go music. Brandon T is featured as lead rapper of the band. The band was formally a live party band but recently switched to playing gospel music as a way for God to minister.
