Brent Arthur Joseph Paul-Stanton (born
May 10,
1990 is an American television host and commentator.
Brent is the son of two of Michigan's most well known American television journalists, Terry Stanton and Jo Anne Paul.
Brent began his broadcasting career in 2006 when he co-hosted the statewide
Big Show with Michael Patrick Shiels on the Michigan Talk Network.
Due to his mother and father's connections to broadcast professionals through the State of Michigan, Brent quickly was hired as the host of Meridian Township's
Minor Complications which is aired on
HOM-TV 21.
Brent also serves as a Special Field Correspondant for 1240
WJIM in
Lansing, Michigan covering special events.
Brent's first live radio interview was with American Rock and Roll Singer
Ted Nugent in
July 2006 on the steps of
Michigan's State Capitol, as Nugent campaigned for
Republican U.S.
Senate candidate Mike Bouchard.

Brent was born on
May 10,
1990 at
Sparrow Hospital in
Lansing, Michigan to the parents Terry Stanton and Jo Anne Paul.
At Brent's birth, his father, Terry, was a well known American television news anchor at
WEYI-TV in
Clio, Michigan and Brent's mother, Jo Anne, was the morning news anchor and at
WLNS-TV in
Lansing, Michigan.
At 3 years of age, Brent's father accepted a position at
WTMJ-TV in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin along with Brent's mother, who accepted a role as a reporter for the
Milwaukee television station.
With both of his parents being well known members of the media and quite public figures, Brent was in the spot light whenever the family was in public.
In 1999, Brent's mother and father both took television news anchor positions at
WLNS-TV in
Lansing, Michigan and moved to
Williamston, Michigan where the family currently resides.
Brent's father is no longer with
WLNS, as he was let go due to a contract disagreement in
September 2001.
Terry Stanton was hired as a Communications Representative to then-Governor
John Engler in
2001 and now serves under
Governor Jennifer Granholm.
Brent's mother co-hosts "The Dan Mulhurn Show" weeknights on
WJIM as well as doing afternoon news.
Jo Anne also hosts a 1-hour call in program for
HOM-TV 21.
Radio Career
In the midst of the
November 2006 mid-term elections,
U.S.
Senate candidate Mike Bouchard was campaigning heavily in the Lansing-area and Brent's mother, Jo Anne, asked him to interview the candidate and
Ted Nugent, who was stumping for Bouchard.
Brent stole the spotlight among all the reporters at the event and popped the question to Nugent on whether or not Nugent would consider a
2010 gubernatorial run.
Nugent responded, "We'll see", further fueling the speculation that Nugent was seriously considering it.
Nugent is an outspoken
Republican.
In
September 2007, Brent fed taped interviews with
Republican presidential candidates at the Mackinac Republican Leaderhip Conference on historic
Mackinac Island, Michigan.
The only notable interview to garner any airtime was with
U.S.
Senator John McCain.
On New Year's Eve 2007, Stanton contributed special reports on police advisements and worked in colaboration with his mother and other on-air personalities.
Television Career
Brent landed his first job as a television show host with
HOM-TV 21 in
Meridian Township near
Lansing, Michigan.
Brent's show, "Minor Complications", is a 1-hour call-in program in which teens discuss issues important to them.
Brent also is the anchor for the Williamston High School Daily Announcements, which are broadcasted on Williamston High School's educational channel, once each day for a 5 minute newscast.
College
It is rumored that Brent is planning to attend
Central Michigan University in
Mount Pleasant, Michigan, his father's alma mater.
Brent has applied for the
Lemuel C.
Tucker Broadcast Journalism Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship at CMU.
Brent said he plans to major in Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts, despite his parent's lack of enthusiasm for his career pathway choice, citing the cut throat industry that broadcasting has evolved into.
Trivia
In
1999 on "Take Your Child to Work Day", Brent read the kicker for his father's newscast at
WLNS.
