Brian Matthew Chase (born October 8, 1981 in Washington, D.C.) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays with the pro club Dynamo Moscow.


College career

He played college basketball for Virginia Tech between 1999 and 2003. He averaged 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game during his 4 year stint with Virginia Tech [1]. He also earned his degree in human services.

Professional career

Chase went undrafted in 2003 NBA Draft. He joined the ABA team the Maryland Nighthawks, where he averaged 8.4 points and 2.3 assists per game in 13 games for 2004-05 season. He spent the 2005-06 season with the Gary Steelheads of the Continental Basketball Association, the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBA Development League and the Nebraska Cranes of the United States Basketball League. In the off season of the 2006-07 NBA Season he was signed by the Utah Jazz, but he was released without playing a regular season game. Afterwords he joined the Los Angeles D-Fenders, where he averaged 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game during that season. He was also selected to the NBDL All-Star game.

Before the 2007–08 NBA season, he signed a 2 year $1.4 million contract with the Miami Heat [2]. He appeared in 7 preseason games, but he was released before the regular season began. He then came back to play with the D-Fenders, and he averaged 16.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game with them. He is quoted as saying " Thanks to his childhood friend Joe C. his game would not be where it is today. Joe made him play extra hard due to his crucial defense.

On March 19, 2008, Chase's transfer to the Turkish Basketball League club Beşiktaş Cola Turka was confirmed [3].
