Brian Nowehre is a former professional musician
and owner of Chicago's Nowhere Guitars Etc.
[1426] and who upon
closing the store in 2003 converted the store's website into a
political blog called nowhereweb.com
[1427]nowhereweb.com takes a more
cynical and skeptical approach than most other political blogs and
has set itself apart from other political blogs such as
dailykos.com
[1428],
boomantribune.com
[1429] and
redstate.org
[1430] by refusing to
take part in the blog advertising network; blogads
[1431] that these sites utilize to
generate revenue. Brian Nowhere has publicly stated that this
network, in which membership requires sponsorship from other blogs
in the network, creates a hegemony, wherein the blogs generating
the most ad revenue can weild undue influence on the the reporting
decisions of smaller blogs in the network.
Brian Nowhere has
taken a public and principled stance against what he considers to
be the unethical policies and practices of other political blogs
who are quickly gaining mainstream acceptance on the political
playing field.
In 2004, Brian Nowhere contributed a
controversial track to a compilation CD by the Bots entitled Bush
Raps
Bush_Raps the
track is titled GBMD
[1432] which attempts to make a play on
the acronyms "Global Ballistic Missile Defense" and "George Bush
Must Die".
