Brian West (born April 3, 1982), is a Canadian Radio Announcer who has be heard on the air in various cities throughout Ontario. Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Brian West always enjoyed entertaining people. From public speaking, to being in a rock back, to being on the radio, Brian West always enjoyed performing in front of crowds.

Education

After graduating from high school, Brian West attended the radio broadcasting program at Algonquin College[284] in Nepean, Ontario. He graduated with honours in the Spring of 2003. Brian West was the Station Manager of CKDJ-FM the campus radio station (96.9FM at the time) now located at 107.9FM.

Career

Brian West got his start in radio while still in College. He was hired to host the overnight show on CKQB-FM, 106.9FM The Bear in the spring of 2002. After graduating from Algonquin College, Brian West helped launch CIHT-FM, Hot 89.9FM as weekend/swing announcer. In February of 2004 he moved to Kingston, Ontario to help launch CFMK-FM, 96.3 Joe FM as Morning Show Co-Host. He later moved to Middays and became the station's Music Director.

In January of 2007 Brian West left JOE FM and moved to Toronto. He can now be heard on Y108 owned and operated by Corus Entertainment. Brian is also sometimes heard on Corus Entertainment's CING-FM, The New Country 95.3FM.

Brian has attended Canadian Music Week on numerous occasions to learn more about programming a radio station, as well as music scheduling, and announcing.

Awards

While still in school Brian West won an award for Public Speaking and went on to compete in the Board Finals.

Brian took home 3 awards in College.

2) Best Production Demo - Judged by Chez 106 (Rogers Radio) Ottawa
3) Best Current Affairs Story - Judged by CBC Ottawa

Brian was named employee of the Month while working at CKQB-FM, 106.9FM The Bear.
