Bring It On: All or Nothing is the third installment in the Bring it On series of films that revolves around high school cheerleading. Directed by Steve Rash, the movie was released direct-to-dvd on August 8, 2006 by Universal Pictures.

This film, which is the second sequel to Bring It On, has a tenuous link to the previous films, featuring only a similar plot of competing cheerleading teams that have to try something different in order to win. There are no recurring cast members or canonical references to the previous films. However, the film stylistically refers to its predecessors in that it is the second in the Bring It On series to open with a choreographed musical number that turns out to be a dream sequence of the protagonist, and like all three films, the end credits feature outtakes and clips of the cast having fun dancing.

As shown in the outtakes, the film's working title was Bring It On Yet Again.

The film was followed by another sequel titled Bring It On: In It to Win It, which was released direct-to-DVD in December 2007.

Plot

Britney Allen (Hayden Panettiere) has the perfect cheerleader's life. She is captain of her cheerleading squad at the elite seaside campus of Pacific Vista High School. Not only is she captain of the squad, she is also dating Pacific Vista's star quarterback, Brad Warner (Jake McDorman). Being pretty, smart and captain, there was no reason for no one not to envy her, including her so called friend and co-captain, Winnie Harper, who was very annoyed when she lost captain to Britney.

One day, after Britney happily drives home ready to tell her mother the exciting news that her squad was auditioning for a television show, she finds her home to be filled with boxes and her father early home from work. That's when Britney's life comes crashing down. Britney's father has a new job and his company is relocating to Crenshaw Heights, a multi-ethnic neighbourhood an hour away from Pacific Vista. The next day at school when Britney tell her friends she is moving, Winnie is quick to announce that she will be Pacific Vista's new cheerleading captain. Much to Britney's despair, she has to agree as it was the rules. Then Winnie makes Britney swear she would never cheer again, Britney hesitantly swears but Winnie wants to make if 'official' and buries Britney's pompoms. But Britney, unable to see her pompoms buried, rips them out of the ground.

When Britney drives to Crenshaw Heights High School on her first day in her expensive car, she gets out of the car to find students staring and laughing at her because she was so different. Trying to ignore the staring students she happily walks through the school accidentally bumping into Camille, Crenshaw Height's cheerleading captain. Britney and Camille immediately dislike each other. Britney wasn't used to being picked on and out of place, so she sent her Pacific Vista friends a video message of her in tears and telling her how she hated her new school (to which Sierra thought were 'tears of joy'). Despite the ridicule, Britney is able to form a friendship with Jesse (Gus Carr), a male cheerleader and proves to Camille that she is a talented cheerleader and earns a spot on the Warrior's cheer squad, although feeling guilty as she broke her promise with her Pacific Vista friends.

The first few practices, Britney found it hard as she discovered the Warriors weren't a cheer-ocracy squad and Camille was the only one contributing ideas to the squad. Eventually Britney fits into the Warriors nicely and enjoys cheering with Camille and her friends. But yet again, Britney has a problem when she lies to Camille because she can't come to the football game on Friday because her dog died and was to attend her dog's funeral, but really was going to her Pacific Vista Homecoming dance with Brad. But Britney is then thrown off the Warrior's squad when Camille and Jesse come to Britney's house to offer their condolences and find Britney and Brad very dressed up and that Britney never had a dog.

At the Homecoming dance, Britney confronts Brad about cheating on her with Winnie, which Amber told Britney over the phone a few days previously. Not only does Britney break up with Brad, her and Winnie get into an argument about the Warrior's talent and Britney apologizes to her friends that she started cheering again.

Britney isn't so happy then when she is off the Warrior's squad and her relationship with Jesse is ruined when Jesse finds Britney has a boyfriend. Britney still supports the Warriors though, and showed up to the Rihanna TV Special Competiton to support the Warriors. But eventually Britney is smiling again when Camille allows her on the squad again after Britney stood up for the Warriors when Winnie was insulting them. Before the finals between the Warriors and Pacific Vista, Britney tells Jesse she broke up with Brad and Jesse forgives her and they get together. The Warriors end up winning the competiton, winning computers for their school and the privilege to star in Rihanna's music clip of 'Pon de Replay.' At the end of the movie, Winnie tells Rihanna that the Warriors ruined their cheer, but then Winnie is replaced as captain and Amber becomes the new Pacific Vista captain. Britney's happy life is restored back in Crenshaw Heights, again being on the Warrior's squad, making up with Jesse and fitting in at her new school.

She becomes the captain of the squad in the end after Winnie.
  • Brianna (Danielle Savre): is Britney's another teammate and she's a Pacific Vista cheerleader. Winnie keeps telling her that she's fat and forces her to lose more weight if she wants to stay on the squad. At homecoming dance they finally admit that they have been seeing each other and Britney finally dumps Brad after knowing the truth about him and Winnie.

  • Leti (Francia Almendarez): is a Crenshaw Heights cheerleader and one of Camille's friends. She's a tough Latina and always has something to say especially in Spanish. She also loves to party. She is second in charge of the squad although nobody listens to her when she is actually in charge.

Response

While the film was not released in cinemas, it was very successful for a straight-to-DVD feature. It sold more than 750,000 units (50% more than its predecessor Bring It On Again) and earned $12 million in its first week, the overall #3 in DVD sales that week. It was the second-highest debut of a live-action DVD premiere in history behind American Pie: Band Camp which was also from Universal Pictures and director Steve Rash.

The movie has also become a popular showing on American cable network ABC Family where it's frequently paired up with the original Bring It On as a part of a Double Feature Cheer-a-thon. ABC Family airs an alternate version suitable for television which has been mostly stripped of foul language and vulgarity.

The movie is also regularly shown on E! Entertainment Network.

Soundtrack

  • Rihanna's SOS is featured at the start of the film.
  • The song for the music video that the team wins the right to perform in is Rihanna's Pon De Replay.
  • One of the songs featured in the film soundtrack is Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl. The music video for Hollaback Girl, released in 2004, famously features a cheerleading squad. What You Waiting For? and Rich Girl another two of Stefani's songs, are also used.
  • The hip-hop group Fu-Schnickens's "Can We Rock?" is featured as a remix during the end credits. The remix is a mash-up of the song "Can We Rock?" with Hardknox's "What's Up Doc?"

  • The unreleased song "Let's Move" by the film's composers, The Transcenders, is also used in the movie during the Pacific Vista Pirates' practice (with Britney as captain).
