Bristow Middle School is a relatively new school in the town of West Hartford, Connecticut. It was built and opened in 2005 because the two other Middle Schools, Sedgwick and King Philip, were overcrowded. Students are admitted to Bristow by lottery so as to keep the number of students there to a minimum. The school is named after a famous slave who died in Connecticut. The school teaches around 400 students in grades 6th-8th each year. One of the most unique things about Bristow is its design. It has only two floors (and the basement) in the main building. However, these floors are very spacious due to the small number of stdents who attend the school. Much to many students delights, each floor (except the basement) is fully carpeted, (with the exception of the bathrooms, "Dining Hall" and gymnasium)air conditioned and equipped with the coldest drinking fountains on earth. In addition to the marvelous main building, there are three skywalks that lead from the main building to the three floors of the "Shepherd House" which is a victorian style mansion that houses the adminastrative offices, libary and special student services for Bristow. Very impressive on the outside (apart from the bars on some of the windows) and equally grand on the inside, Bristow is a gorgeous school that educates its students almost as well as King Philip. However, Bristow has a skeleton in its closet. It has a dark secret hidden within that can only be noticed by outsiders such as myself, who attended Bristow for only one year. It will cause dismay, considering you have read about how great this school is already. It is with deepest regret that I inform the world. Bristow, with all its grandeur, lacks proper disposal of plastics, glass and aluminum. Yes, world, Bristow has no recycling bins. This is the sad, awful truth.
