Bruce Hwang Chen (陳良侯, born 1980 - Los Angeles, California) is a filmmaker who lived the majority of his life in Taiwan. His passion for art started ever since drawing classes in elementary school. The passion led him back to Los Angeles, studying visual arts in UCLA for undergraduate. While in LA, he interned for Madonna’s Maverick Films, and did paper translation works among Asian stars Jet Li, Hsu Chi and their producer Steven Chasman in Current Entertainment. The internships provided great interest for Bruce to turn his passion for arts towards film. His first experimental short “Mahjong to the Grave” was a success in UCLA and accepted to 25th Asian American International Film Festival. His following obscene film “Oral Abuse” won UCLA’s best digital short of 2003, and is still traveling around in festivals.

After graduation, Bruce was invited back to Taiwan to become a post-production artist at Digital Vision - editing and creating special effects on television commercials and music videos. While at it, his strong vision for art allowed him to step in and directed a few commercials by himself. His anti-smoking commercials “Red Light” and “Kiss” won the best non-profit health commercials of Taiwan 2004 and 2005.
The passion for Bruce to film a feature story made him quit his role in Taiwan, and went to New York to study more about film narrative in Columbia University.

During 2003, he started his brand of T-shirt company PPRconcept, using Doctor Sun Yet San and myriad politician's image, in fusion with superheros, to promote Democracy. The shirts are favored by celebrities and underground artists of Taiwan.

Bruce Hwang Chen's contribution to the Film and Fashion industry is still yet to be seen.
