Bryan Barton was born in 1980 to a home builder and an educator in
Sacramento, from whom he learned the values of hard work and public
service. As a young man he successfully developed and ran two
newspapers in the Sacramento area. In 2001 he migrated south, drawn
to San Diego by its extraordinary cultural diversity, economic
opportunities, and to attend the University of California San
Diego. After graduating with his Bachelors Degree in Political
Science in 2005, Bryan decided that it was time to give back to the
community by serving in the House of Representatives for the 53rd
Congressional District.
As a small businessman, Bryan Barton
understands the value of free enterprise to our nation and the
dangers of excessive intervention by the government in the
marketplace.
As a newspaper publisher and editor, Bryan Barton
supports the free press and free speech in general as both a
hallowed tradition and a vital part of our democracy.
As a
Californian, Bryan is concerned about the security of our borders
and the detrimental economic and social effects of un-enforced
immigration laws on both our native workforce and on the migrants
themselves.
As an American, first and foremost, Bryan Barton
supports an “Ownership Society” based on the values of personal
responsibility and sustainable economic policies. Legislation to
support an Ownership Society should focus on removing or altering
laws that aggravate the cost of purchasing or maintaining a home,
and allowing individuals the freedom to direct their own retirement
efforts without being penalized by the government for their
initiative.
Most importantly Bryan Barton is a man of action.
When he saw that the borders were unprotected he joined the Minute
Man Project to defend our country, and then flew to our nation’s
capitol to lobby Congress. When he saw liberal bias in academia and
education he became the media on college campuses. Now, having seen
the people of the 53rd district being misrepresented in Congress,
Bryan is prepared to serve his neighbors by bringing their voices
to Washington. [http://www.votebarton.com votebarton

Controversy
While a member of the Minuteman
Project Barton was the center of wide criticism for the group.
While fimling a documentary regarding his involvement in the group
he encountered an illegal alien. While he has tried to spin this
incident to portray himself as a caring individual for providing
the illegal immigrant with milk and cereal as well as $20USD, he
became the center of the controversy for his other actions in the
video. In the video he was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of
himself and the words "Bryan Barton caught me crossing the border
and all I got was this lousy T-shirt." He tricked the illegal alien
to pose with the t-shirt for the documentary to the amusement and
laughter of himself and his cameraman. This does not hold Barton up
to any degree of civility. He was asked by the organizers of the
Minuteman Project to discontinue his service to their program. A
video of this incident can be found at his website in his videos
section. While most campaign advisors and anyone with an average IQ
would advise a serious candidate to refrain from making the video
and incident a serious matter, Barton seems to try and make this a
part of his campaign.
