A manufacturing industry veteran with more than 10 years of operations management experience, Mr. Norman is an advisor for the Direct Digital Manufacturing Tech group, part of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Rapid Technologies and Additive Manufacturing technical community (RTAM). He is also a former chairman of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers Chapter 211. The Society of Manufacturing Engineers is a Not For Profit society for manufacturing engineering professionals. Mr. Norman is also President & CEO of Digital Reality, Inc., a technology startup based in Austin Texas.

His interests and work has showcased an affinity for 3D rendering, animation and Computer Aided Design and visualization tools that pertain to manufacturing, product design, engineering & prototype or mock-ups. I have spent more than 17 years working with 3D programs that include Maya, Infini-D, Ray Dream Designer, Form Z, Rhino, Strata studio Pro, Electric Image, Solidworks, Inventor, CATIA, Pro Mechanica, Pro-E, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Alias Sketch & Lightwave 3D.

Throughout his youth, Mr. Norman had a knack for how things worked, which led to his eventual education in engineering. Taking things apart was a natural occurance within the Norman household. By the age of 5, Mr. Norman was experimenting with electricity. One day, while driving down the road with his mother, the CB radio in the vehicle did not work. He crawled under the dash and hot-wired the radio, by bypassing the fuse that was blown. His parents encouraged his education the field. By age 16, Mr. Norman was writing programs in Basic including TRON, a racing game programmed originally on an Atari 400 in 1985. A narrowing of his interests emerged during his education to include 3D animation and rendering and by age 16, Mr. Norman was experimenting with 3D animation and rendering as a hobby.

Tragedy struck in November 1988 with the death of his father at age 36. It wasn't until the age of 19 that Mr. Norman again became focused on education and an attention to engineering. By 21, Mr. Norman was attending Texas A&M University and spent a great deal of time working on extracurricular activities including the Texas A&M University Solar Motorsports program which, in 1999 was a contender for championship in the General Motors & EDS Sponsored Sunrayce '99.
