Burger King Wednesday

(Otherwise Known as BK Wednesday) Is a holiday among the Abington Junior and High school students that takes place on Wednesday of every week.(not to be confused with whopper Wednesday)<br />

Origins

Although its origins are widely contested What is know is this. BK Wednesday was founded by Dan Plunkett, Matt Mageria, and Brandon Salzman in the 7th grade (2004) On a warm sunny day back in 7th grade Dan, and Salzman stayed after school on a Tuesday to watch a baseball game. Although little is know about this exact incident one thing is known for sure, they quickly became bored. An idea was suggested to go to burger king. Why not? they thought,so Dan and Salzman went off into the sunset, but they didn't know how to get there. So they saw Matt and Karl walking back from there. So they asked them for directions. They pointed them to the way and they were off. These two visionaries had such a good time that they decided that they should come every week. Since Monday was just not a good day to go, and Tuesday was Dan's favorite day of the week, Dan came up with the idea and name of BK Wednesday.(note:this took place on a Tuesday) Matt falsely states he created it because he does not remember that it was a Tuesday. And so the sacred tradition was founded on this holy Tuesday.

The Coupon Book Era

Back in the beginning of 8th grade (2005) a wondrous thing happened. Burger King started selling coupon books for just 1$ and with this 1$ coupon book you could get 4 small fries and 4 small drinks. A marvelous deal indeed and all of us took advantage of it. Unfortunately this marvelous deal did not last and after Halloween of that year the coupon books were discontinued thus ending the Coupon Book Era.

Modern Day BK Wednesday

Modern Day Burger King is similar yet different from the old BK. It is similar in the fact that we still go to BK on wensday and it is still a sacred day in its members mind. But the introduction of
Whopper Wensday made whopper meals cheaper thus more people could come with less money and the BK population grew. Currently there are around 20 full-time BK members and even more guests that show up every once in a while. (Introduction of BK wensday to our high school friends also swelled the BK population) In the Fall of 2006 Popularity of BK hit an all time high, on average almost 20 group members attended BK Wensday weekly. ON 11/15/2006 BK Wednesday popularity hit an all time high. That day 50 people came for BK Wednesday. This broke the previous attendance record of 17 on 9/13/2006.

Confusion of BK Wednesday and Whopper Wednesday

Although many people think that BK wensday was founded on wensday because of whopper wensday this is a common misconception. There was no whopper wensday in 7th grade in fact whopper wensday didn't come around until late in 8th grade. Thus making the two just a Coincidence.

===Why BK Wednesday is so important

BK Wednesday is important for a lot of reasons. It is a cultural phenomenon exploding in popularity in the fall of 2006. It has changed the way many of us think of Wednesday and has opened our minds to new ideas and philosophies prehaps, in its own way BK Wednesday is a philosophy itself we will never know
the fact that whopper wendnesday is on the same day of the week as bk wendnesday is all the proof needed to make it more then just a still ritual, it made it a weekly holiday
