Bush Bashing is essentially the act of
defaming United States President
George W.
Bush, an
activity that has gained momentum in the
United States by
individuals and groups, political and otherwise, unhappy with the
president and his policies, decisions and beliefs.
Supporters of
the
Democratic Party, as well as many
Libertarians,
oppose Bush's fiscal and environmental policies, such as tax breaks
for the wealthiest Americans despite a record budget
deficit and for not supporting the
Kyoto
protocol), as well as potential interference in
civil liberties
through support for laws banning or restricting, among other
things,
abortion and
same sex
marriage. Many people are also concerned of his support for
faith based organizations,
citing the potential for a breakdown of the constitutional
separation of church and state. Many also claim that Bush is an
incompetent leader, and that money and his family played a
significant role in his election.
Bush bashing is nearly
commonplace is many other countries, such as in
Europe and the
middle east, as well as
Canada and
Mexico and many others, where Bush is
extremely unpopular among the general public primarily because of
current US policy and the
war in Iraq.
