C-Mental is a Mexican heavy metal band formed in 2000. Their music is a fusion of different influences such as death metal, grindcore, hardcore and thrash metal.

History

The band was born officially at the end of the year 2000, before which it was an unstable line-up project. During 2003, the band presented in different stages of Distrito Federal scene their first professional recording called Days of Agony, an album that compiles compositions made before the year 2000, and recent material. The sound of the album bears a heavy-thrash influence.

Early 2004, Lance Death (Guitar), Congore (Drums) and Redeemer (Bass Guitar) decided to record some new material, but with the essence developed at live gigs during 2003. So, during early 2004 the EP OWEN State was born. Recorded entirely at Progabb Studios, this EP features four songs with the new sound and tendencies of the band. It is considered by Lance Death, Congore and Redeemer as the starting point of many other recordings to establish the new C-Mental.

The next step was finding a vocalist. They didn't have to audition many singers: they found in the person of Zattara the right musician to be the fourth C-Mental member, completing the actual line up. With Zattara recruited, the band finished the year 2004 with 2 explosive live shows of OWEN State, displaying with it a hardcore tendencies passing through thrash, death and grind without engagements, with the powerful union of the four forces.
