C.O.C.O is a Olympia Based Indie Rock band composed of Bassist and Singer, Olive Ness and Drummer Chris Sutton. After a few well recieved gigs, the band was quickly snatched up by Olympia based label K Records. They then recorded their self titled LP. After its release, C.O.C.O. did several tours around the country. Railing on their brand of lo-fi dance music. The C.O.C.O. Sound was then released and had more of a mature sound. The band then went on a brief Hiatus in 2006. But soon regrouped and are preparing to release a new LP, which is scheduled to come out in 2007.

History

Decoy Decoy and The Beginning

According to the bands website, Olive Ness and Chris Sutton have been living together in the same house, when they began to rock out to albums and tracks of such bands and decided to take it to the streets. Ness recently started to play bass a year prior, without any help from her roomate bassist. Ness played in a previous band called Decoy Decoy, which was her first band. Soon afterwards, Ness formed C.O.C.O. with Chris Sutton, and played their first gig in Olympia, Washington.

Recording With K Records and Their Self Titled LP

The band played their second gig with Washington singer/songwriter Dennis Driscoll to a small audience of less then ten people. One of Chris's former bandmates happened to be in the audience, K Records founder Calvin Johnson. Johnson saw their potential, and asked to record them at Dub Narcotic Studios. They accepted, even though they only have done two shows since formation and their sound was still raw. One of their songs were written a day before, while two songs were written the day of the recording. After two days, their Self Titled LP was complete.

Fall U.S. Tour and Beyond

When their first LP was finished, word began to spread about the band and their LP. Soon the band was getting more gigs and eventually went on tour with local legends Sleater-Kinney in the fall of 2000. The band has recorded a couple of albums in the past couple of years. A new album is scheduled to be released in 2007.
