C. Wayne Owens (born
1950) is an
American actor,
author,
songwriter,
aphorist and
cartoonist.
Born in
Oklahoma, C. Wayne Owens and his family moved
to
Los Angeles
later the same year. By age five Wayne was working as an
extra in movies and on TV.
Shows he appeared on include:
My Three Sons,
Leave It To
Beaver and
Circus Boy. In 1979 Wayne's brother Albert
Lewis Owens was murdered in California by
Stanley
"Tookie" WilliamsWhen he left home in 1963 he worked full
time, went to school and found time to do
community theatre
all around the country. He studied theatre at
Southwest Missouri State
College (where he created his first comic strip for the
school
newspaper Jerm: On The Microscope Slide) and the
University of Missouri -
Kansas City (whose newspaper also ran the strip). He co-wrote
and performed in the longest running live show in
Kansas City history,
King
Henry´s Feast. He also took the character ("Seymoure") from
that show and toured many a
Renaissance festival around the
country for a decade. The character was the center of his first
album,
Seymoure Says. This character created the game
(stolen, he says, by his brother
Simon) called Seymoure Says, and has played it with
great success all over the world. He also used it as a tool in his
teaching of
improvisation.
He was a contestant on
Jeopardy!
and toured Europe and the Middle East, headlining the first
USO All
Stand-Up Comedy Show,
entertaining U.S. troops for the
Department of
Defense. He has appeared in a variety of films ranging from
"
The Day
After," to "Linda Lovelace For President." He had been in TV
Mini-series like
"Gone In The Night" and "A Matter of Justice. "He can also be seen
as "The Maniac" in the
U2 video
"
The Last Night on Earth." Where you
won´t see him is in the film "
Mars Attacks!" where his scene was cut. But
his name is in the credits under the title "Stranger #1" so he does
still get
residual
checks ("What a country!")
He has recorded five comedy and
music albums that have been sold around the world & his science
fiction/comedy radio series "Rip Jarvis of the Space Cadets" has
been in the works to be adapted into both a cartoon show and a
feature film for some time. "Promises To Keep" was Wayne´s first
attempt at a film on his own, although he did co-write and appear
in Todd Norris´ award winning feature "The Paranormal."
He
created his second comic strip character with Wendy Barsotti
(daughter of

Fright: Stand Up!" and it ran in comedy club publications. He later
revived the strip and does it by himself to this very day. He has
