CAFÉ MONDEGAR

CAFÉ MONDEGAR also called as MONDYS is a lively café and is one of South Bombay's popular hangouts. The café is near to one of Bombay’s most famous theatre,‘REGAL’, with a small board sticking out saying ‘CAFE MONDEGAR’. The moment you’ve dropped in, a very hilarious quote “Reality is an illusion caused by Alcohol Deficiency!” greets you. Café Mondegar is a quaint, old Iranian style pub with with old british style decor and huge cielings. Since ages the café still has its old styled tables and chairs with a chequered cloth with the menu card stuck up under the table glass surface. The café has a unique ambience. The aura resonates with all-time rock hits buzzing from the juke box. The walls are adorned with the famous Mario Miranda's cartoons, which depict people exhaling smoke, drinking & leching, and glib quotes from the likes of George Bernard Shaw. There’s a huge 29 inch LCD screen, which is only used when a F1 rally or a cricket match is on, that too when the India team is batting. It has a very small floor space that is always jam packed. One major forté of the pub is to play fabulous retro rock songs. The most famous bands blaring on the floor here are G N R, Pink Floyd – The Wall, R.E.M., Metallica etc.

The menu comprises of onion rings, french fries and the delicious coffee float. A wide range of Continental and Chinese meals make it to the menu. Mondys is famous for its strong and frothy Irish Coffee, definitely one of the best in Bombay. The food is excellent, the café being famous for its Pepper Steak and Steak Boti. The café also sells its mugs, T-shirts etc.

The café is open from eight in the morning till midnight and the feeling of the place is fully relaxed and bohemian. This café is a congregation of like minded people with one thing running at the back of their mind, Beer & Hard Rock!
