The California Review, or CalRev, is a politically conservative, student-run newspaper at the University of California, San Diego.
Its membership, exclusive and limited, is determined solely by the current Editor-in-Chief, Alea Roach.
The paper, while often perceived as controversial among the student body, is a self-proclaimed “unapologetic celebration of American ideals.” The California Review's staff takes pride in espousing what they describe as politically incorrect viewpoints and reporting on professors whom they believe indoctrinate their students with allegedly leftist ideology.
Founded on January 7th, 1982, the organization has since served as an outspoken voice for political conversvatism at UCSD; it is currently the only student periodical on the campus to do so.
