Cameron Wilson

Cameron Wilson was one of the greatest budding advocates and activist for human, and in particular, female rights in history.
His work has, although not greatly affected the world today as we know it, helped society and no doubt the best of his work is yet to come. Though he is not to be judged by the quality of the start of his English Major Work, it is clear that 99% of the time he knows what he is doing. Greatly involved in Many activites, he takes advantage of as many oppurtinities as possible. He is also a Violinist, though it must be seen to be believed.

Why Cameron is notable

Cameron Wilson is notable because he represents a new generation.
A generation of aware youth. A generation where it is not someone else's problem, but our problem now.

So, Cameron is showing the people of this world that he represents a new generation, a generation that understands and feels.
He is an example, and should therefore be part of this dictionary, just as Aesthop's Fables may be, or the song of a famous artist.

History

He was born in 1990 to a reasonably poor family in Sydney.
His father, Mark Wilson, was a humble pilot working for Qantas, while his mother was a housewife attending her child. Cameron was a lonely young boy, his father was often away and he had no siblings of which to speak. As a sufferer of autistic jealousy (in other words, he wants to be autistic), he also had difficulty integrating himself into modern society. Mostly due to his annoying voice, slack clothes and disregard for personal hygiene.

He has attended Knox Grammar School for 9 years of his life, where he has studied Latin, English, Legal Studies, Drama, Maths and Science.
It was around year 9 when his English teacher, Mr. Smith, introduced him to the world of politics. He was intensely interested in the rights of minority groups, and has studied the Geneva Convention and especially the violations by the US in certain torture/prison camps. He intends to infiltrate this camps, disguised (?) as a torture method, and then undermine the system by which they run. His current worry is that the prisoners, once released, will not want to follow such a hopeless looking person.

Once he leaves Knox Grammar School, it has been said Cam intends to the University of Sydney, where he will study Law.
This was not his choice, as his father did not wish him to fail in life, and pushed him into a degree which he did not want. But after realising how he could chnage the legal system and it's inefficenies. Naturally, after studying for 7 years, instead of going straight into law, Cameron plans to still go and be an activist and tour the country before settling down. Cam still wants to live the dream that Mr. Smith introduced him to many years ago.

He is inspired by such figures as Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and George Bush (senior) Though he is more on the way to becoming someone like Dan Quayle, Ralph Nader or Patrick Buchannan.

Cameron has been published many times in various reputable sources around Australia such as Sydney Weekly Courier and Sydney Morning Herald on widely ranging issues, going from talking about the standard of Education taught in New South Wales to why one says 'Many happy returns.'
He has also been rejected many times, but greatness comes from failure, and by track records, he ought to be very VERY great, right?

Recent Work

Cameron, although a serious activist, has since his early childhood developed a strange but hilarious sense of human.
He currently owns the domain www.camwilson.org, and is underway trying to design a interactive site that involves the user, but also educates them on human rights, while making them laugh and realize that although the world is a peaceful place contrary to popular belief.

Cameron has often talked about how he was affected in his childhood by two events, the death of his maltese - shitzyu dog, named Toby, and the loss of his friend Nicholas Meyer in car crash at age 17 in December 2004.

Some new events he is trying to raise awareness of, aside from feminist and human rights, is the repressed sexuality and personality of Christian teenagers and safety inside the classroom.

Cameron currently resides in Sydney, and is currently under-going his secondary education.

Speeches

Here are some of his speeches both for competitions but also to raise awareness...

Crisis

Ladies and Gentlemen.
We have a crisis. A real crisis. Not like a super tsunami. Not like a lacklustre London bombing. That’s right a real crisis. It’s official. Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt are no longer man and wife.

Almost had you going.
But seriously, it seems like in today’s society everything is a crisis. Eating disorders are at an all time high, sex education hasn’t helped prevent STDs, and Australia’s batting is at an all time low. Maybe it’s just me, or does it seem that everything currently is a breaking point. And no, that’s not just in Australia, it seems the whole world is filled with turmoil.

I mean, look at Iraq.
Yes, I know it’s a tired topic but it truly is a crisis. A place ruled over by a guy with a moustache who looks so evil that he must have weapons of Mass Destruction. US President George Bush was so convinced of his evilness that within a year after associating Iraq with the Axis of Evils (something that sounds like a year 9 mathematic formula), he had invaded them, ignored the toothless tiger that is the UN and overthrown their country.

How convenient that oil-filled country that is Iraq had supposed weapons of mass destruction in time for the US Oil Resources Crisis.

Speaking of resources, we, the citizens of Sydney, are currently in a water crisis.
That’s right, Warragamba dam is dying. And of course, all fingers are pointed towards the guilty no doubt the child-molesting public, definitely not the innocent law-abiding, struggling to just raise a profit international corporation. Nothing to do with large amount of immigrants. Nothing to do with We’re so wasteful that Sydney Water has to hire people in disguised cars to check that we aren’t watering our dear petunias. How 1984ish.

But wait, there’s more.
While we’re being watched, we’re watching other people. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Big Brother is disgraceful. It is so surprising to the general public that a show that involves 12 housemates in one house for 100 days who are all, as the show’s producers put it, ‘sexy and single’ on the ‘Up late’ show commit such devious acts as hugging each other in the spa and shaving their legs in the showers. This calls for a federal referendum! This calls for all reality television to be called off! Although that may not be much of a loss to most, we need to stop this show from ever showing anything that has a sexual innuendo ever. Even if it means ignoring drug trafficking, immigration policies and cutting thousands of jobs, it’ll be worth it.

So while the MPs were supposedly watching Big Brother Up Late for ‘breaches of the television viewing committee’, they obviously learnt something about racial slurs and sexual promiscuity.
Yes, you all know I’m talking about John Brodgen. It’s an outrage! When the state leader of the opposition says something about a retired state premier’s wife, the whole country calls out in anger and disgust. But when you call the current PM something involving a posterior and a tongue, as a certain Mark Latham did, you get world-wide acclaim and become federal opposition leader. I mean it’s one thing to sexually harass a women, but it’s a slightly dumber to do it to a journalist. Well multiple journalists.

John Brodgen decided to resign and I quote "I acted dishonourably, and now is the time to act honourably."
And what honor it is to act only after it gets into the public after three weeks, a surprisingly long time after he did it in front of a crowd of journos.

So cynical, it may be, but it seems that everything today is made into a crisis out of nothing.
The media feeds on events to get money, dominance and over all power. Even with actual cry seas occuring, such as Hurricane Katrina killing at least 50 and Liz Hurley releasing another horrible clothing line, we are being pumped with information about the New All Black’s Hakka and Bob Dylan’s new album.

So, in my opinion, contrary to popular belief, the world is a peaceful place.
Wars and dictators come and go, fuel prices fluctuate and people are born and die, but there will always be us. The people of this planet, the people who cause extinctions and pollution, but the people who feel, adore and love. And with that, we, the human race, will always be safe from crisis.

Idols

So there I was, up on stage, with what it seemed like a million people in front of me cheering.
I put my microphone back into my sweaty right hand and then I held it up, and opened my mouth when…

I realized I still had to do my maths work.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I do have a dream. Someday, I wish that I could be famous. I wish like Robbie Williams or Hugh Jackman, I could be up on stage or in a rock concert. But helps me get there is knowing that mere mortals like me have even made it.

Idols.
Not like the crappy ones that you see on television, but heroes. Someone you can aspire to be. Someone who has shown you the way to your hopes and dreams. It can be anyone, and depending on whom you are and what you want to be, it could be a man or a woman. A true story or a myth. Whether he or she is a chef or a news presenter, everyone has someone who they can look up to.

But why, you ask, do we have idols?
To some, it may be a person who have made a heroic journey through troubles and triumphs, through laughter and tears, a journey so difficult that you cannot imagine anyone doing it, let alone your self . Or to others, it may who you want to be one day, your goal to be as good as Johnny Wilkinson or as swim as fast as Ian Thorpe.

Or it may even be someone you know and respect.

Let me ask you all a question, have you ever been doing something so hard and difficult that you have lost your way and broken.
You stop, and think that you can do no more. I can tell you, I have. But one of the things that will always help is a light. Someone that you can hold on to or someone that helped you out of that black hole of despair.

But not everyone is a good idol, not because they choose not to be, but because they send a bad image to people everywhere.
A good example for this is Shane Warne. Let’s list. He did smoking ads, and still smoked. He took drugs and blamed it on his mom. He has had numerous affairs. Statistically, if he had just reached test wickets, and has had 97 scandals, approximately he has had had one scandal for every 6 wickets he has gotten.

But aside from him, pretty much everyone has a good attribute.

But everybody has someone they wish they could be, or be like.
Ask your mom or dad, sister, brother, friends or enemies. So, I decided to do a little researching. I asked my dad. Depressingly he replied Pythagoras – a famous mathematician who invented the lever. Understandably, he’s a maths nerd. Hoping that I could savage my speech with a decent one, I asked my sister – she said Stef from Neighbours because she battled breast cancer. On the show. She says now she wants to be a doctor or a soap actress. I didn’t inquire further.

But it lead me to.
Who is my idol? Thinking long and hard, I thought I didn’t know. I listed who I wanted to be, a funny smart guy. So I walked around, listening to my iPod. And then I realized. My idol is Weird Al Yankovic, a hilarious parodist singer. It seems whenever I am down, I draw support from his songs such as ‘Like a Surgeon’ , ‘9 Coronas’ and ‘The Night Santa went crazy’.

So I think who I want to be and who my idol is definitely corresponds.

People of the audience, if you can take one message away from this ramble of a speech, I hope you could take the message that even in today’s society, were many of our idols are socialities, drugs addicts and anorexics, I hope you know who you want to be, set that person in your sights, and follow your dreams.
