effort
Camille Cleverley was a student at
Brigham Young University who was a high-profile missing person in the
Utah area until her body was found due to an accident.
Her disappearance was widely covered by the local media and also picked up by CNN and included an appearance on the television show
America's Most Wanted.
She was last seen alive on August 30, 2007, and her body was found on September 9.
She was 22 years old.
At first, it was feared that Cleverley was abducted from her college town of
Provo, Utah.
Cleverley is originally from Idaho.
A massive grassroots search began.
She was understood to have been riding her bicycle when she was last seen, so the bicycle became a major focus of the investigation.
Somewhat coincidentally, her bicycle was stolen from
Bridal Veil Falls, a popular destination in Provo Canyon (near
Provo, Utah), by two individuals who cut the lock after they claim the bike was left there overnight.
After they took it, they suspected it belonged to Cleverley due to media reports asking people to look for the particular bike.
They turned it in, but not before retaining lawyers to limit their legal exposure in the case.
Their confession that they had taken it from the Bridal Veil Falls area allowed searchers to focus their efforts there.
After several days, Cleverley was found deceased at the bottom of a cliff at the falls, with injuries consistent with a fall.
