'Caminus' latin for smelting/foundry furnace, forge; home stove/furnace; vent (underground fires); are a 4 piece band formed at 15, Foscote Rise, Banbury, Oxfordshire in early 2006, and pride themselves on being one of the only pro-gay rights bands in Southern England.

The band were initially created by basshead Martin "barefoot" Brion (birthname LeeRoy Shakur),
drummer Martin Sexton and guitarist Mark Umney. The current line up now consists of Zeb Young and Engelbert Humperdinck on vocals.

Caminus have very unique sounds and styles and have been compared to the likes of Aqua,Dizzie Rascal and Martin Brion's personal favourite Kalashnikov.

In such a short time, Caminus has played many successful, headlining dates in Southern England including Brion's bedroom,Barneys kennel and most recently Wembley Stadium, and are hotly tipped to be one of the more original, break-through acts in the next couple of centuries.

On January 3 2007 the band spent two weeks at number one, on the download music website www.analimpalor.co.uk

On September 3rd 2007 Caminus were signed to independent label Camper Than Thou records.


The formation of Caminus:

Martin Brion was born as LeeRoy Shakur on the 6th of September 1986 in the KFC toilets in Gaydon (Warwickshire, England). From an early age, Brion quickly became aware that he was a little unconventional in his mannerisms. Obsessions with several schoolgirls earned him a particular notoriety among his classmates, and eventually expulsion from school after an episode involving the violent pursuit of a teenage girl on her journey home from school(in which he indulged in an act of voyeurism and proceded to masterbate only to have a bucket of cold water thrown over him).

Despite this setback, Martin quickly found other ways of channeling his time, and set his sights on becoming a professional gridiron kicker. After a brief spell at the London Ostriches, and the loss of a substantial sum of money to American conman Danny Ocean (posing as a college gridiron scout), the dejected young Brion decided to do his country proud (or atleast his pet dog) and join the army.
His dreams and aspirations were soon to be shattered though. After only 2 weeks served in Her Majesty's rank, an amourous Somalian soldier took a liking to Martin, so much so that an episode involving a dropped soap in the army showers, caused him to return home with immediate effect.

Brion's life had seemingly hit a dead end and it was time to rethink his course, which a renowned local psychiatrist (John Wayne Gacy) helped him to do. During his time in therapy, Brion came to the realisation that his homosexual nightmares did in fact have a foundation embdedded in reality. It was at this point that he decided to reveal the truth to his parents, who in turn locked him in the family basement with only a Sanberg California Jazz Bass guitar as company.

It was as if he had found a long lost brother. Brion immediately excelled with both of his instruments, and after his release from captivity following a raid on the family home by Thames Valley Police led by Chief Constable Richard Lyons (see Operation Barefoot), it was time to reintegrate into society. During a night out in the prestigious G.A.Y. nightclub in London, England, Brion met a young man in the hole-in-one room, and the foundations of the band Caminus were formed.

Hobbies and intrests include: TRYING to play the bass... guitar that is, although Brion's also very knowledgeable about it in the narcotic sense of the term, working out(have you seen the size of him?! They dont call him "Buff brion" for nothing...)and of course having relations in the Tommy Flynn's lavatories with his beautiful "thing". Heroes include Pete Doherty, Daniella Westbrook, The Samaritans (helped him through his homosexual confusion), Amy Winehouse, Pete Burns, Peter File and Fred West. Martin has always stated that if his pop dream goes down the drain just like his gridiron one did (Caminus' record label is CHARGING THEM £200.00 per month just to stay signed so that would appear likely) he would aspire to be a member of the Green Street Elite.
