The Canadian Company of Pilgrims, (formerly the
Little Company of Pilgrims Canada), is a
Canadian organization
established in 1994. The group is dedicated to supplying
information to the prospective pilgrim planning a modern-day pilgrimage via the
route of the Way of Saint James to the city of
Santiago de Compostela in
Galicia
in northern Spain. The Main
Chapter is located in Toronto, Ontario and meets twice a year usually in the spring
and fall where prospective pilgrims can obtain a credential[572] necessary for
completing the pilgrimage as well as useful information and tips
from a network of experienced pilgrims. Since its establishment in
1994 the organization has grown to include an additional seven
chapters throughout Canada. Three chapters exist in Ontario, namely in Greater Sudbury,
representing Northern Ontario, as well as in
Orillia and
Ottawa; two chapters are
based in British Columbia, in Surrey, BC and in Victoria, BC; the other two
chapters are located in Edmonton, Alberta with a regional chapter representing
the
Maritimes.
