Canine Performance Events, Inc., is a dog agility organization based in
North
America. It was founded in 1998 by Linda Eickholdt as an
organization which would introduce some unique games in addition to
the standard agility course. CPE states that their philosophy is
"for the dog and handler to have fun while successfully competing
for agility titles." CPE's first trial was held in April of 1998
in Nebraska. Though originally centered in the American Midwest,
CPE has since spread throughout the United States and into Nova
Scotia and Ontario.
CPE allows dogs of all breeds (including
mixed breeds), and all ages above 15 months, to compete. They
include special classes with exceptions for Veterans, Early
Veterans, and Specialists, allowing older or moderately physically
challenged dogs to compete at lower jump heights. They also provide
classes for junior handlers and physically challenged
handlers.
