The Canon PIXMA iP4000photo printer supports
resolutions up to 4800x1200 pixels. It can print up to 25 pages of
black text per minute, and uses 5 individual ink tanks - 2 black, 1
cyan, 1 magenta, and 1 yellow.
Canon discontinued the iP4000 model after
approximately one year and replaced it with the PIXMA iP4200 due to
the poor quality of printed material (extreme fading causing the
most problems) . The replacement model utilises new Chromalife ink that produces
prints which should last up to 100 years when printing on Canon Pro
Paper in a photographic album. Aside from the change in ink type,
the new model cut the picolitre size in half to 1pL, which increases the
resolution to 9600x2400.
